Race 5 Victory Machine (6-1) Had been going off at long odds but that changed when he picked up Purton here for his first try on this gelding for trainer John Moore, while drawing the 10 post with the short run to the turn going 6 furlongs at Sha Tin. Zach worked on him to get to the front as soon as the gates opened and fought for the lead with the 10 pound apprentice on Hard Promise, it did take him half the turn to get over towards the rail with Hard Promise bolting it. With 200 metres left he finally put Hard Promise away but as soon as that happened he was engaged by winner Red Desert who had a perfect trip sitting right off the pace two wide, he dug in and fought all the way to the wire only to lose by a head all the while holding off the big favourite Silver Fig by a half-length.

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 5 Touch Of Luck (3-5) In his first try on the dirt for John Moore after winning for fun in his last on a yielding track, was bet down as the heavy 3-2 favourite. While breaking on the rail he took a bad step immediately out of it causing him and Zac Purton to lose at least a couple lengths to the field, then had to be taken up losing another length heading into the first turn when bugboy Yeung came over into his path on Coolceleb. After that he started to climb in the turn and raced very rank for the next 100 metres and even after all that he was only beaten a neck.

Race 9 Glorious Dragon (6-1) In his first try at the downtown course for the Tony Millard barn after two decent runs at Sha Tin, he does have a win in his record when he racing back in England. Just before the gates opened he turned his head sideways causing him to leap slightly out of the gate losing a length to the field, heading into the first turn he became a very rank while racing near the back of the field which is not where you wanted to be on that track that night. In the final turn he raced three wide, at the top of the stretch a hole opened up for him and he didn't hesitate to put himself into it, but at the 150 metres mark he switched off his proper lead and couldn't drag in Travel First who was conceding 14 pounds to Glorious Dragon and was aided by the front running bias.

Race 9 Marzouq (7-1) After running a well beaten third to a very nice Band Of Brothers going 1600 metres, he was entered in for 9 furlongs at Sha Tin. Just before the gates opened he threw his head up and it cost him a little more than 2 lengths to the field, after 400 metres into the race Moreira settled him mid-pack racing on the rail. At the top of the stretch Moreira moved him off the rail to the four path looking for an opening, he was a little hesitant on splitting runners and eventually it cost him, at the 200 metre mark Super Elegance and Amazing Luck came together with Marzouq caught in the middle forcing Moreira to check up on him. He was allowed to gallop out after that incident without any encouragement by his passenger.

Race 7 Raging Storm (16-1)

Key Plays:
Race 4 Beauty Loyal (5-1)
Race 10 Beauty Applause (3-1)

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 7 Sparkling Dragon (10-1) His first race after a 2 month freshening when he ran third beaten a neck to Fat Turtle at Happy Valley. The betting public bet him down as the 4-1 second choice, after breaking well from the gate he was placed mid-pack by van Niekerk after getting thru the short turn on the backside. Just after the short turn he had to grab his mouth for just second, in the turn he raced two wide until they entered the stretch when van Niekerk moved him out to the five path but was blocked with no running room available for just a moment, then was a little hesitant to split Most Beautiful and Winning Supreme mid-stretch and soon afterwards was outrun to the wire by Fearless Fire and Smart Leader on his outside. Should improve off the effort next time out.

Class specialists running tonight:
Race 8 Multimillion (6-1)

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 8 Highland Fortune (20-1) After running a game second to Big Party who has won three out of five races, now was bet down to the 9-5 favourite going 6 furlongs. At the start he broke a little sideways and went slightly to his knees, then was bumped hard by eventual winner Lakeshore Eagle then was hit on his other side by Alcari and now was forced to race near the rear of the field early on. Heading into the turn he was taken back when Triumphant Arch started to lose ground directly in front of him. After travelling in the two path in the turn a small hole opened for him early in the stretch but as soon as he stuck his head in it Hello Beauty drifted into his path forcing Ho to take up on him, he was given a few love taps without much response and Ho put the stick away for the last 100 metres.

Race 9 Monkey Jewellery (5-1) After running a disappointing 4th as the chalk back in October, he was scratched in early May with a lame front right leg which he had a previous issue with. Even with that information the betting public bet him down to 5-2 making him the second betting choice to Chicken Dance even after getting the 14 post with the short run to the turn going 6 furlongs at Sha Tin. After three hundred metres he found himself in the second flight and heading into the turn in the five path, then after finally being able to get over he was three wide without any cover. In the stretch he pretty much ran evenly will not being able to outrun the favourite winner to the wire, Moreira gave him a whack with the persuader with 200 to go but there was nothing there and allowed him to finish out on his own. After the race he was inspected by the track veterinarian and was found to have a clean bill of health, hopefully he gets a better draw next time out.

Race 11 Beauty Spark (17-1) In his debut in Hong Kong after going 2 for 2 in Australia, he picked up leading rider Zac Purton for the Frankie Lor barn and was bet pretty heavily at the window going off as the 3-1 second choice just behind the undefeated Golden Sixty. After breaking well from the gate Zac placed him right behind the leaders heading into the turn going two wide, then at the top of the stretch a hole opened up for him to scoot thru but before he got into it Ping Hai Galaxy drifted into his path after he was bumped by the eventaual winner and favourite Golden Sixty, Purton at that moment had to grab his mouth and stopped his momentum. Zac gave up immediately on him and never even sat down on him afterwards.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
Race 7 Magic Success (7-5)

Key Plays:
Race 9 Monkey Jewellery (5-1)
Race 11 Beauty Spark (17-1)

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 3 Zero Hedge (5-1) After showing speed while breaking from the 10 post in his last he got a much better draw here with the 2 gate, unfortunately he was a half-step slow and when Diamond Key who broke from the rail came out slightly at the start it made Moreira to take up, then afterwards he clipped heals with Very Rich Man. Then in the short turn he started to throw his head up fighting Moreira for the bit, at the top of the stretch after racing mid-pack on the rail, Moreira moved him off of it for running room but it closed up quickly forcing him back towards the rail. He then found himself in all kinds of heavy traffic for the rest of the trip. The track handicappers took two rating points away from him so now he will be racing at a rating of 60 which will allow him to drop back down into Class 4 but race at the high weight of 133 which he has won at before.

Race 4 Dream Warriors (5-2) Hasn't shown much in his four races with his last being his best running 5th 2 3/4 lengths behind Smart Patch after starting awkward. Again he started slowly breaking a length behind the field, for the first half of the race he was two wide and at the rear of the herd, but then Chad decided to put him into the race and moved him out and asked him for a run. When Purton on the favourite Play Wise saw this, he forced Schofield out to the four path in the turn, and even with all that going on he found himself in front by a half a length with 200 to go. He just couldn't hold off the late charging High Rev and winner The Judge at the wire going down by a neck.

Race 7 Frustrated (7-1) Went off as the 2-1 favourite for trainer Frankie Lor and 5 pound bug-boy Wong who have been on fire of late and especially with this runner. At the break he took a slight stumble but nothing that was too significant, he then raced in the second flight behind two duelers but when Purton on Dream Come True decided to take back out of the fight heading into the turn it put Frustrated in a bad pinch all covered up. Entering the stretch he started looking to the outside for running room but Teetan on Hong Kong Bet herded him back inside, then right before he hit a hole it closed up when Dream Come True and Mr Right began to tire and drifted towards each other forcing the apprentice check up losing all his momentum while the longshot winner Forza Angel was making his winning move, he was wrapped up afterwards and galloped out to the wire.

Last race watch list horses running tonight:
Race 7 Hello Beauty (8-5) After running a very nice third to light weight winner Lakeshore Eagle in race 747, he was entered in here as the high weight going 7 furlongs at Sha Tin while drawing the 13 post. He broke well and was well placed in the third flight chasing a lone speed Happy Force two wide in the turn, he then swung out to the four path entering the stretch for running room. After running 200 metres in the stretch he finally switched to his proper lead but just couldn't find the wire soon enough losing by less than a length to a first time Hong Kong runner Star Performance who paid $132 to win. Today he picks up Purton, draws the three post and shortens up to six furloongs.

Race 11 Mr So And So (8-1) The computer has been unkind to him in his last two races giving him the 10 post and the 12 in here while shortening up to 1650 metres at The Valley after a descent third going 1800 in his last. He was very much disrespected by the crowd for a John Size runner, going off at 18-1 which was too high even with his post position draw. He broke well and Joao settled him to the rear very nicely and was able to get him in on the rail soon in the first turn (a real piece of beauty, riding at it's finest), after saving ground while a nice fight was going on at the front of the class with Circuit Glory and the betting favourite Fat Turtle it was setting things up for the closers. Joao scraped the rail into the stretch and with 200 metres to go it looked as if he was going to win the prize but he was just out finished by Not Usual Talent to the wire while beating a very nice runner Green Luck by over three lengths.

Race 11 King Opie (7-1) Has found the jump up to Class 2 a little tough after going thru Class 3 with ease. He usually runs near the lead but today after breaking well van Niekerk took him back (must have been on the orders of trainer Frankie Lor), and after racing in the two path the rider swung him out for running room at the top of the stretch but Rivet who was just in front of him also drifted out forcing van Neikerk to duck back down towards the rail. He immediately took the bit and started closing on the front runners but at the 200 mark he had to avoid clipping heels with Right Choice when Rispoli hit him on the left and he immediately ducked from the stick into King Opie's lane. He was just slightly outrun to the wire afterwards by the 81-1 Red Warrior who just got up by the big chalk Champion's Way.

Past watch list runners running tonight:
Race 4 Monkey Jewellery (2-5)
Race 5 Circuit Three (5-2)
Race 8 Harmony Victory (8-1)
Race 9 Young Legend (6-1)

Key Plays:
Race 7 Hello Beauty (8-5)
Race 8 Citron Spirit (15-1)

Longshots:
Race 6 Bullish Glory (23-1)

This is the final meet of the year, hopefully this has been helpful and will be back again in September. Good Luck!
