Appearance.

He caught my eye. Shiny coat, the groom kept his head tucked down. Had a nice confident walk. Would have liked to see more of a fitness line, but some horses just don't show that. Made a real good appearance.

The race.

2 confirmed front runners and 2 other EP horses. Combined 12 speed points up front. So in the next race we want to see the same situation, would not mind to see 1 less EP horse. Would also want this guy drawn outside of the speed here. He was also in a race that had 5 others that were ranked higher than him speed figure wise. In the next race hope to have fewer than that.

Going to watch the replays a couple of times and see if what I remember was true. My memory says he was in good position on the rail, then dropped back suddenly on the last turn, only to close with a very strong run.

Amalfi Surprise a 2 year old filly won her debut at a maiden special at Santa Anita yesterday

she won easily - the interesting thing is that one of S.A.'s track handicappers stated that she had been timed at 9.80 for one furlong sometime before her career began - absolutely a scorching clocking

she might be cheap speed or she might turn out to be a great sprinter

she looked really good - green but very quick
