There used to be a practice in internet marketing called "Crowd Speaking" that was similar.
The way it works is people get invited (without compensation) to join a page and authorize that page to make posts for them on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Then, when a marketer wants to make a social media post, they share it with all the accounts.
Now, to be clear, it doesn't take too many people to get quite a bang for your buck. (The platform itself charged).
As an example, I know a woman who wrote a single chapter in a book, as did 11 other women. Jack Canfield (
Chicken Soup For the Soul guy) published the book.
The royalty split was equal between all the others. However, the authors also had the right to create "affiliate links." Any sales made from their affiliate clicks would garner them a commission equal to the a single royalty.
The "woman I know" had a total of 75 people on her list and reach over 3,000,000 people.
She made more money from the book than the other 11 contributors and the publisher
combined!
Facebook banned the practice about 18 months ago.
