She was the Town supervisor of Hamburg NY which is home to Buffalo Raceway. Certainly aware of the economic impacts of racing.

Hochul's husband William is VP and General Counsel of Delaware North, the owner operator of Finger Lakes Racetrack, Southland Greyhound, Wheeling Island, Miami Valley (OH) harness, etc.

I'd say she's got a strong pro-racing household influence there!

As opposed to the most recent former governor who seemed to view horse racing as though it were some type of nuisance he couldn't get off his lawn.
