Mahoning Valley now double-checks tattoos in the winner's circle before race is made official, thanks to a couple of Spiess switch-a-roo winners last winter.
Great idea.

Not surprisingly the report is from LA. I've not placed a wager on an LA track since the jockey race fixing incident almost 2 years ago. This latest issue only validates my stance about giving these people another dime.

Maybe it was just overwhelmingly hot.

The whole culture of that state is conducive to tricksters, whether politics, sports, or anything between.

Man that's cold.

Based on past actions, I half expect that in a day or so the Louisiana Racing Commission will issue a press release and tell Ray Paulick something like the following:

"Everybody who could have possibly been responsible for this is hereby exonerated. Immediately upon learning that the wrong horse had crossed the finish line, everybody involved was assisted by outriders and subsequently rushed to the hospital where they were treated for heatstroke.

Never mind that track video failed to substantiate anything we said the last time we claimed heatstroke was responsible in one of our press releases.

All of you disgruntled horseplayers need to get on board with this and believe us."

That happened at Hollywood park.

there must be more to the story here, if the identifier checked the horse going into the paddock and the test bark identified the horse for post race testing, what evidence do they have that it was the wrong horse?

Eventually DNA will replace tattoos. This day can not come fast enough.

Is it really that difficult to ask the horse to produce some ID?

After the Patin brothers "pulled" (pun intended) off their caper at Evangeline Downs, I gave up on Louisiana.
