I should point tho....(since my I'll get busted for this part...unfairly)... The Democrats which CONTROLLED both houses then....were obviously OK with THIS decision...
That's one astonishing thing back then...both parties worked HAND & HAND...much more frequently than now....and NOT in OUR best interest either...

The FCC fairness doctrine was a violation of the First Amendment.
Amendment I
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
There has always been fake news in one form or another. Having the government be the arbiter of what is fair is like the fox guarding the hen house.
It is our job as citizens to find out the truth the best way we can.

@realDonaldTrump
"A REAL scandal is the one sided coverage, hour by hour, of networks like NBC & Democrat spin machines like Saturday Night Live. It is all nothing less than unfair news coverage and Dem commercials. Should be tested in courts, can’t be legal? Only defame & belittle! Collusion?"
I agree - SNL is VERY dangerous to our democracy. Estab Reps can't see it. God Bless DJT!

I heard that SNL is part of a deep state plot for a coup. Little Kim is in on it too. People are going to see Alec Baldwin playing Trump more and more until they can't tell which is which. Then Trump is going to be kidnapped and taken to a prison camp in North Korea, and Baldwin will take over the Oval Office.

Maybe any show that is one-sided politically or socially should be eliminated because they are "dangerous to our democracy."

In retrospect...I personally would agree with that....but the Bigger problem came when Corporations WERE ALLOWED the SAME latitude as citizens...ie....1st amendment protection & Campaign DONATIONS...
Alas...we're ALL screwed ....who can tell from Fake vs Real anymore...both sides are EMPLOYING A.I. to create stuff...it's gone crazy....

Spot on Sammy.
Corporations should NOT be allowed half the stuff they do.
It is just absurd.

You mean corporations like labor unions, the NEA, AARP, or the NRA?

Yes, I mean a person is a person.
Nothing else.
If you cannot VOTE, you should be able to contribute to any candidate or party.
Elections are for PEOPLE.
Of the people
by the people
for the people
