If I remember correctly, Breeder’s Cup takes over your facility for the weekend, and gets all the revenue. That is why Woodbine, has hosted it only once. They don’t want to give up the casino revenue for the weekend to host the Breeders Cup.

Interesting that they lose the casino revenue.
Hollywood Park hosted it in 1997 with its casino up and running and I don't think the casino revenue went to Breeders' Cup. Of course that was then and this is now.

Nothing is 0% but I would guess it's close to "no chance" that any casino revenue was given up to the BC. Those are complicated deals with the government and the monies are highly unlikely to be easily transferable.

Considering all the issues that Churchill Downs is having with their turf course, it was a good thing they did not host it this year. Not sure if they would even have their act together to have it ready for next year. Just as well it returns back to Del Mar.

They would not have to give any of the casino revenue to the Breeder’s Cup, but they would have to shut the casino down for the weekend. That is how they would lose that revenue.

I love the Breeder's Cup. It has become a huge success for the sport, but it has also had a few unintended negative consequences.
It has made some of the fall races that used to help determine the championships almost irrelevant.
I think it has added to the race spacing problem. Trainers are WAY more concerned about staying fresh and peaking for the BC because so much rides on those races. I believe they are skipping more races just to make sure none of their horses are over the top at the end of the year.

I think the reality is if the Breeders' Cup wasn't created, another country (such as Japan or in the Middle East) would have captured the championship races.
The truths about the old system are:
1. New York never had the monopoly it thought it did-- instead, there was simply a mess where voters would have to decide whether to give the Eclipse Award to the West Coast or the East Coast horse in that division, and there were also big championship type races (especially the DC International) that were not in New York anyway, going way back.
2. The system was premised on trainers racing their horses frequently, so you could develop a season record. The breeding value of horses broke that down. So what you'd be dealing with now is not horses who had a bunch of races in New York, but horses who had 4 start campaigns culminating in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, or 2 year olds who won a maiden race and the Champagne.
3. The thing that brings big fields together from all across the country is money. The Breeders' Cup, because of its funding mechanism, can offer that money and have a $6 million race; no single track can really do that.
So I think things would be a lot worse, not better, without the BC. There'd just be a Japan Breeders' Cup or something and everyone would point for that.

This is dumb even for you. The truth is the best West Coast horses often came to NY in the Fall. Why? Because they had the races that mattered, especially when it came to winning Championships. The facts bear this out. Yes, the DC International and Canadian International were important and great races. The BC completely ruined one and badly damaged the other. Not their intention in all likelihood, but a fact nonetheless.
You are hardly alone in CA with your weird NY obsession. Worry about your own house. Stop obsessing over ours.

I love West Coast racing. It's painful to see it deteriorating. No nicer track than Santa Anita.

Andy, things like Chinook Pass and Landaluce happened in the period just before the Breeders' Cup. And they happened because the organization you work for couldn't put up the purse money needed to bring all the top horses out to New York in the fall to decide championships. The Breeders' Cup could. They had a better model and correctly took it away from NYRA, and folks over there are still sore about it 40 years later.
