It seems to really be morphed into the culture war, social issue, nuclear family, religious ideal buzzword...
Where it used to have a pretty broad meaning during the Neoliberal era of someone like Reagan its really retreated to describing a specific position on the above mentioned issues.
I've avoided using it and go with Classical Liberalism (Founders) or Neo-liberalism (Basically the Reagan-Clinton spectrum... both would be considered neo-liberals).
Ask a "conservative" to describe the conservative stance on anything other than social issues and you'll probably get a pretty wide-ranging response.

Conservatism is complex.
Any idiot can be a democrat.
And most are.

It used to have more planks but has abandoned them wholesale.
It's a social issue movement only.
Look at "conservatives" and their record on fiscal responsibility.

They are not conservatives.
CINOS - Conservatives in name only.
Just like Bernie and AOC and that crowd are not really democrats.
See how the real dems rigged the primaries last time to keep Bernie out.
Both parties have their funny uncles that should be locked up in the attic.

This is word salad.
Conservatism is a social issue movement that's it.
If you want to know what a "conservative" thinks take a social issue and just check what the laws were in the 50s... that's what they think.
Beyond that there is no cohesive philosophy that binds them.

The Dem superdelegate system was put in place in 1982. Did Bernie try to change the Dem primary system pre-2015???

Woooosh!
Reagan three legged stool sums it up perfectly.
I said it was complex.
Guess that is why you don't understand it.

You keep saying "its complex" without saying anything about it.
Its a Social Issue reactionary philosophy and that's it.
"Its complex" is code for not having anything meaningful to say while trying to maintain the illusion of superiority.
Quantum Mechanics are complex. Conservatism is not.
