Santa Anita's Ed Golden calls some "Social Media Misanthropes" over Justify video

http://www.santaanita.com/stable-not.../#.WvTwo4gvxaQ

Excerpt:

Conquering hero Bob Baffert was back on the beat at his home base of Santa Anita Thursday morning, five days after winning his fifth Kentucky Derby, this time on a sloppy track with undefeated Santa Anita Derby winner Justify, now the odds-on favorite to win the May 19 Preakness, despite a social media frenzy that erupted when Baffert brought the colt out for all to observe Sunday morning at Churchill Downs.

Substantiation was summarily dismissed by social media misanthropes after seeing Justify favor his left hind leg, their rambling rants ranging from his being “off” to “lame.”

More accurately described, it was “a minor foot bruise.”

Misanthrope or deplorable? Which should I wear with honor?

I don’t know who Ed Golden is, but he better hope the horse runs now.........

Similar to Jeff Mullins comments IMO, just from a different segment of the industry.

The short version---"Shut up and bet"

If he were my horse, we would skip the Preakness and get ready for the Belmont. Of course buffert is under pressure to run, the horse clearly is not 100%, I know it’s “only” a bruise.

So in the end either Andy Asaro and PETA will be right or Ed Golden will be right? Talk about a no-win situation.

Who is Ed Golden, and, more importantly, who gives a crap?

Funny.

The rush to circle the wagons, in this case defend a horse being lame, is what this industry does best. What's really pathetic though is that the industry is so stupid they don't see how each time they circle, they just shoot themselves.

The horse was about as lame as a horse can be. Admit it, explain what the issue is and how it's resolved, and then make sure the public and handicappers are aware of whether it's resolved or not when he races next. It's not that hard, racing, to do things right.

I remember a horse racing in one of the big races in Hong Kong a few years back by the name of Spalato, he had was off in his right hind and did not disclose them to the stewards before racing. took A LOT of money and came up lame.

Stewards took a dim view of the offness of the horse not being reported before the race.

at least we know there is a problem with Justify. bettor beware.

Exactly, why the protest? If its not true that's good for his backers.........

All this stuff is supposed to be kept secret, but in todays world and the social media its hard to keep things quiet. The conditions were awful, every one of those 20 horses felt that trip for sure. There's no candy coating it, I bet a majority were bruised and battered after the race.

The Derby winner being 3-legged lame while being led around by a smiling Baffert declaring him "great" after the race is about as comical as it comes.

Should be a great piece in it coming from Indian Charlie.

The reason I put the thread in General Racing is because of the comments by Santa Anita. Why in the world would you say that in the official Santa Anita notes?
