And, by the way, does it matter at all that "Too few people were willing to speak, much less allow a reporter to use their names, and Weinstein and his associates used nondisclosure agreements, payoffs, and legal threats to suppress their accounts", as was stated at the beginning of The New Yorker article?

I look forward to your response. (Pick an icon.)
The NY Times broke the story decades AFTER it all started, many years after abuse allegations were a matter of public record, after a rape allegation was already out there, after other major media outlets killed the story, and years after it was already an open secret throughout Hollywood, including jokes being made about him at award shows.

All the things he did to try to suppress it do matter. But lots of the stories were already out there despite that and the media looked the other way, most likely because he was one of "theirs" and loads of them have skeletons in their own closet.

I think those guilty of enabling have to be pointed at specifically. Some victims tried to get their story out, and some press also tried to. Some press mayve wanted to, but without a victim going on record, they can be hard pressed to print what they could likely be sued over. There's also the problem with something being one person's word against the other's.

It appears none of the women were concerned that they'd be blamed for what happened to them (those days are mostly gone), but were instead worried about him ruining their career or being able to fight him financially. So they need to address this within the industry, providing a safe place to report their grievances and that entity protecting them while they investigate.

Some of these women seemed to hold the power too to do something about this but chose not to. Judd, Jolie, Paltrow, Fonda, etc had enough power and money of their own to not be destroyed if they banded together with others.

So the people I'd applaud most were those who tried to shine a light on this years before. I didn't think I'd ever compliment Courtney Love, but apparently she was one. Rose McGowan seemed to try hard to get her story out.

Men in Hollywood? I probably can't find a reason to defend any man who knew and didn't do anything about it (I haven't heard of a single one who did try).

Probably because that's the way it's always been in "Show-Biz".

From Wikipedia bio on Harry Cohn Of Columbia Pictures years and years ago....

Harry Cohn expected, or at least asked for, sex from female stars in exchange for employment (although similar stories were connected to many producers in Hollywood at the time). Harry Cohn's relationship with Rita Hayworth was fraught with aggravation. Hayworth's biography If This Was Happiness, describes how she refused to sleep with Cohn and how this angered him. However, because Hayworth was such a valuable property Cohn kept her under contract because she made him money. During the years they worked together, each did their best to irritate the other despite their lengthy work relationship which produced good results. Cohn wanted to groom Mary Castle as Hayworth's successor. Kim Novak, another Columbia star, reportedly endured similar treatment from Cohn. When Joan Crawford was subjected to Cohn's advances after signing a three-picture contract with Columbia, she quickly stopped him by saying, "Keep it in your pants, Harry. I'm having lunch with Joan and the boys [Cohn's wife and children] tomorrow."

Hollywood men and woman who donated to then Pres. Clinton's Lewinsky defense fund

Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, Barbara Streisand, David Jeffen, Jeffry Katzenburg.

Clintons rented a house next door to H. Weinstein's vacation home in the Hamptons.

That's absurd when you think about it. Who needs donations to a legal defense fund most, you think, a millionaire POTUS or a young woman intern?

Tom Hanks I think smartened up. He went from one of the best-liked actors in Hollywood to irritating some of his fans so has kept his lips zipped for many years since.

The actor most getting on my nerves these days is DeNiro. I'd make it a daily ritual to tape annoying signs on his bench if I lived in NYC.

It totally shows their hand. But like you say why would they contribute to a rich mans sins?

Courtney Love spoke out in in 2005.

Corey Feldman has been talking about pedophilia in Hollywood for years and hardly anyone pays any attention to him.

I suspect most fall into one or more of the following categories: Having an affair on their wife, seeing hookers, still a closeted gay for career reasons, have a history of doing the same thing to women, are pedophiles etc...

So the last thing they want to do is hurl around accusations that will then come right back at them publicly in an embarrassing or career/marriage wrecking way.

Huge he said she said.

Tough conviction. No physical evidence. Poisoned jury pool.

Very tough

Chalk up Tarantino as another scumbag...he has no problem going after cops he believes are criminals, or going after Trump, but when it comes to Weinstein, suddenly Tarantino is transformed into a misogynistic mouth-breathing red-neck Republican Trump supporter GOOD OL BOY who will keep his mouth shut about THAT. Everything else, his mouth is always big and loud.

More hypocrisy.

All these supposed Hollywood JUSTICE CRUSADERS are nothing more than scumbags of the highest order (most of them, anyway).

Hopefully this shuts them up for a little while at least.

Quinten Tarantino, Michael Moore, and Robert DeNiro are all having major projects delayed/cancelled because of major funding by Weinstein group.
