NYRA WINTER MEET TRACK MAINTENANCE

I have a question for anyone who works for NYRA. With the winter meet opening at Aqueduct on Friday, are changes being made to the track surface this week, to winterize it? Or where changes made prior to the fall meet? I never found this out last winter, which was the first on the main track. The more detail the better, please.

The winterization was done last summer . Has to do with the composition of the track which is maintained year round.

So I guess it's a winter track all year now. It does play differently than it used to.

TURF RACING IN DECEMBER

I was surprised to see a turf race scheduled for opening day of the winter meet at Aqueduct. They could barely get races to stay on the turf during the summer.
