Massachusetts Fair circuit and sports betting

From what i understand in order to have live simulcasting a
facility ( in Mass) must have live horse racing. This makes sense because
the new MGM casino in Springfield has no simulcasting and Plainridge and Suffolk do. Anyway with sports betting on the horizon apparently those
same simulcast facilities will only be allowed to take sports bets. Now there is a
group who wants to reopen a fair circuit track in Great Barrington with live racing dates to secure simulcasting and sports betting. I remember when the Mass fair circuit was in full swing with coruption and fixing was running rampant. I dont think under any circumstance Barrington should be allowed
to reopen. Any opinions?

I saw a documentary on Barrington a while back. The track is so choked with weeds that it could be mistaken for a turf course - and the Marshfield fair grounds suffered severe damage from the blizzard of 2015.

this is entirely wrong. there has been simulcasting going on at Raynham Park now for the last 10 years without live racing.

you might be mixing this up with source marketing fees. Sufolk will not get that money unless they have a live meet and monopolize thoroughbred racing. that source marketing fee is the reason why your rebates are discounted by at least 2% in Mass. the money all goes to Sufolk for now until they take it away from them.
