Saturday eye openers.
With the BC looming.........plenty of top drawer action going on today, perhaps the most impressive:
1) Dr. Schivel: This 3yo tore apart older Graded runners stopping the clock in 1:09.2 on a track that isn't playing fast.
The SASC was his fifth in a row, showing a new dimension letting it rip on the front end.
And doing it all on a broken rein.....a real BC Sprint threat now.
2) Luck: Runner-up in the Rodeo Dr. today, ran flat out giant.
Couldn't get position out of the gate going very wide(a real problem for a filly who wants to be covered up),stayed wide for quite awhile......then had to make a long, uncovered extended run into a crawling pace..........and still almost pulled it off in a fast heat........just giant from her.
Even more impressive, she runs without lasix.......from a stallion that sires bleeders.
Unfortunately she probably won't get into the BC.
3) Beau Liam: Tackling older today,Beau broke a bit slow and then went around the horse on his outside(kind of odd)......got involved early while going wide, and stayed wide on the turn.
Then when BL straightened up,he started gawking at the grandstand(or the Gray horse outside of him) not switching leads when he should of.
Once jockey Hernandez was able to get him to see the winner (Plainsman)on his inside,he found some more run.
Much BTL race out of Beau today....
4) Honorable Mention:
United: Only because all of the talking heads have been calling him one paced for quite awhile........perhaps one of the worst reads ever from a majority of the horse racing media.
