I grew up in the fifties. My first crush was Teresa Brewer “Doesn’t Anybody Wanna Meet a Sweet Old Fashioned Girl?” But, I also listened to Rock Around The Clock, Splish Splash, Maybelline, and Chantilly Lace, and a pretty face and a ponytail. That last one is a son title from way back, not the way I dress now.
I like Elvis, The Beatle, Sinatra, Kelly Clarkson, Roy Orbison, Sarah Brightman, The Rolling Stones, Big Bands, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Josh Groban, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen among many there.
Hamilton, the musical has elements of Hip Hop, R & B, pop, soul and traditional show tunes; and is magnificent.
In addition to those mentioned above, my music library includes Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grapelli, , Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and June Carter, KEB’ Mo’, Mario Lanza, Patsy Cline, Pentatonix, Red Nichols and His Five Pennies, Silvan Zingg and Tony Bennett.
There are some genres of music I don’t care for, but that doesn’t mean they suck. There is plenty of new music that is very good.

This is for our very own Mostpost, from Chicago. Both groups were from his home town.
He probably won't like the songs because there's "love" in both the titles and the spirit of the song but I hope he proves us wrong. Enjoy!!!

Here's another great song from a Chicago group, even though no one seems to care.

Rock Bands in the 90's
There was a period in the 90's when some very good albums came out from new bands, including the grunge and alternative rock bands.
Matchbox 20 and Country Crows, which are rock/pop, are my two favorites from that time period. Counting Crows August And Everything After is a great album and it sounds fantastic on a good stereo system. But by the turn of the century, things really fell apart for some reason.

When you turn on the radio and every new song is sung by females that all sound the same with the same style of singing you tend to turn off the radio. I read that the new songs were written to mimic the trend of the hour, so they all sound the same. Nothing against female singers, just no originality.

After Grunge, I've had a hard time finding anything I like. Of course there are occasional songs I like, but no one is putting out consistently good or breakthrough music.
I barely consider rap to be music. I understand the social significance, but it's mostly a form of poetry with a background beat and maybe a hook or two. It's not music.

I play nothing but video game music in my car. My Toyota car stereo takes a USB stick and I just fill it with game soundtracks.
The car stereo also is BlueTooth compatible, so I can stream music and podcasts from YouTube or other sources off my phone as I drive.

I must say, your excellent taste in music kinda makes up for your not as excellent taste in politicians.

Ask the next rap fan you come across to whistle the melody of their favorite rap song. Almost impossible in almost every case.
