Claiming Crown Observations

In playing this year's Claiming Crown, it seems like 90% of runners are Florida based horses. Since Aqueduct was still running their Fall meet, New York horses, jockeys and trainers were missing.

I live in Minnesota and was at the first Claiming Crown, as well as all the others in Minnesota. About half were Minnesota based, the rest came from all over---CA, KY, NY, IL and others.

It was like a minor Breeders Cup.

Canterbury claimed they lost money holding it.

Originally it was to rotate to other tracks, with Canterbury holding it every other year.

Gulfstream rescued it from certain death.

Saturday felt like a bunch starter allowances--which the Claiming Crown is--with huge purses for Florida based horses.

Maybe they need to run it a month later, or go back to rotating with other tracks every other year.

This is not a rant or complaint, since I did have a winning day.

***** ******** ***********

Now a question, or rant if you will.

Did you notice that GP had a 6-10 minute lag time before loading the horses?

I was at Canterbury for a CC day and it was a great time. Just lucky to passs through that day.

Regarding Saturday, amazing fow Saffie Joseph cannot win a race in NY cleans up at Gulfstream. I guess someone has to take Jorge Navarros place.

I jumped on the Saffi and Paco lopez bandwagon and did ok.

Paco takes a lot of crap but is is a smart strong rider. Zayes as well.

It is a fun series for sure.

Not sure why E. Prado couldn't get at least one mount for the entire day?
I think I'd fire his agent if I were him.

well I'm sure he is 7% for the year due to the fact he is not getting live horses. He had a fine year last year riding at GP.

Because of his agent?

He's a shell of his former self. He can't ride anymore. If he could, he'd be getting live mounts regardless of who his agent is

this looks like a pretty good ride on a 28-1 shot 2 weeks ago.

So he rode one horse well.

He was great at one point. Numbers don't lie. 7% is 7%, especially when you consider what he's been riding against for the past 8 months.
