You just never know. You don't know what will *mean* something to someone sentimentally. I came across a bobble head of a horse I was not familiar with many years ago------and the horse had not run in many many years. I was moving and getting rid of boxes of stuff and putting on Ebay (this was before Facebook, etc. and social media existed).
A guy paid me a whole lot of money for it. I was stunned. Why? Not because of materialism, but because he won a very large Pick6 and that was the horse who "brought it in" for him. He wanted to put it in his office bookcase to remind him of his big win, which had allowed him to start a business and purchase a very nice home for his family. He was beyond thrilled to get it.
I could see why he would want to glance at it every so often!
One of the other items I had was a first edition of one of William Falkner's first books. I found it at a garage sale for 25 cents. I wanted to read it anyway. It had a little humidity / moisture damage, so it never could have gone to christies or any other auction house. It was VERY RARE actually. I finished reading it, put it up on ebay, and somebody paid me $300 for it, despite the condition.
