XFL cancels remainder of season

But says it's committed to a full season in 2021.

So was I. Started off rooting for Dallas until it became clear they had major QB issues, even with L. Jones. So I jumped ship to Houston. I'm fickle, lol.

McMahon has said that he's committed to financially supporting the league for three seasons, so we'll see.

Drat - I really enjoyed watching the games.

McMahon might be looking at a terrible year - his main event, Wrestlemania, is coming up in a couple of week at Tampa Bay stadium. Probably be a no go.

Maybe FoxSports will find a way to do in on their channel and give an out and them a huge score. Going to be short of sports for a while.......

Latest is Wrestlemanina will NOT go on at Tampa. Announcement this Thursday - they gave WWE 1 week to do the right thing or they will do it.

The Friday night show was without an audience. Funny to watch - all the wrestlers are trainers from day 1 to play to the crowd. Watching them pause where they expected cheers, etc, was hilarious. At one point, one of the wrestlers yelled to the announcer - "We can hear you - you don't need a mic!"

Vince McMahon has pulled the plug on XFL.....not coming back.

Too bad, it was enjoyable to watch between Super Bowl and Derby.

He was probably going to keep the XFL going had the economy not gone into the tank. WWE revenues will take a hit because of the virus.

Vince sold off enough stock to lose $300 million for the first three years of the XFL (unlike the first incarnation of the XFL, this time it was separate from WWE financially except for McMahon being the main WWE stockholder and virtually the only XFL stockholder---granted that's a significant exception). The plan was to get by with ad revenue and take a financial hit while trying to establish themselves, then get much bigger rights fees from the sports networks with their second TV contract. Problem is that the general view now is that TV ad revenue may never return to previous levels and that small, niche sports would take a huge hit. Without that ad revenue, there is no XFL, so they declared Chapter 11.

Vince McMahon was sued today by league commissioner Oliver Luck for wrongful termination. One thing I have read (and I realize interest in this is low so I'll keep it short) and heard is that McMahon left a bunch of former NFL and NCAA coaches (including Trestman, Stoops) unpaid when the league folded. Considering he claimed to have $300 million set aside for the league, the fact he didn't even pay some coaches their $500,000 contracts has made his McMahon's always-questionable word carry almost no worth in football circles. So, there's not going to be a THIRD go-round of the XFL. It's amazing the things millionaires decide to go cheap on---the people to run and manage your business should never be one of them.

Vince also filed for bankruptcy and gutted his WWE rooster.
I doubt his personal fortune has take much of a hit despite all of this.
