How’s it affecting my life?

We re-opened our restaurant Friday. Our Sunday was best since Covid. Still down 40% from pre-Covid.

Some changes. But basically the same.

I doubled down. Bought the building, all internals, Equipment and territory rights etc as a full franchisee. We own 94% instead of 50/50 with the company as before.

I’m betting the customers are tired of this shit. They will come back over time.

Btw. After Covid the price for what we bought today dropped almost 500k. I’m taking the discount while it’s still there.

We reopened chess classes in 2 of our rec centers when they re opened

Once location, we have exactly ONE kid. Another location (our most profitable) re opened Friday. We have Monday / Wednesday/ Friday classes. Zero kids

This fear porn has scared parents to death. Our Friday classes alone brought in no fewer than 25 kids, usually over 40. We had zero (0)

We've had requests to start online but that isn't an effective way to coach chess. We'd just be stealing $

It will take years to restart near capacity

Publix grocery stores in my area have done away with the one-way aisle markings. I still wind up with shopping cart road rage when I can't find shit in its usual place in the store (they like to rearrange things).

Those things were stupid. No one actually followed the directional arrows anyway. I certainly didn't.

Most things associated with Covid are stupid. Like a teller or customer service rep hiding behind a glass panel and STILL wearing a mask, and asking you to wear one too! What is the point of the panel partition if you want everyone to wear a mask. One or the other will suffice. That is a visual representation of dumbing down society. No one actually thinks for themselves anymore or questions directives. If you sit back and think about the "rules", most are stupid and not effective, or at the very least overkill.

Seperately, I have found out that dentists and veternaries in my area have huge backlogs because of corona. How many pets had to suffer because of lockdown madness? How many ppl put off important medical stuff? Add in suicides, domestic violence, etc.

As Poindexter noted in another thread the Doubting Thomases view has prevailed, my thinking on this has not changed, it has only been verified.

Stupidity is running wild.
You can't buy single mushrooms anymore, only prepackaged.
But you can handle and buy apples, oranges, lettuce....

Almost all of the benches inside and outside of stores have disappeared.

The Mask nazis are out in force, just dying to turn in a neighbor.

Good to hear, JustRalph. Thank you so much for sharing your story and experience throughout all of this. It provides a lot of perspective...even if some are too goofy to realize it.

Those were dumb, I don't think I ever followed them. I don't really look down at the ground much when I'm shopping, who does? I also had some pleasant conversations in the aisles. The store I was in required masks, I hardly felt at all worried being close in an aisle in that situation.

I had my teeth cleaned on schedule. Not exactly an emergency or essential visit but I don't want my gum health to go south. I did inquire about their office procedures but I would not be going there in the first place if I didn't think they were professionals.

Then, I went to my regular PCP, because something on bottom of my foot was hurting in a place I can't see. I thought I had a splinter. Nope. Some kind of nerve damage like a neuroma. So I went shopping for better athletic shoes, the ones I had were $165 top of the line, but I think the midsole was too firm and also not allowing for enough toe spread. So I'm out walking and hiking again and getting better. Of course everyone in the medical practice (a very busy one!) wore a mask. I felt fine there.

As for pets, I would put my own health at risk but not theirs!!. They can't make decisions, and if they need medical care then you get it for them. I'm pretty inflexible when it comes to getting your children or pets to the doctors when needed.
