Brisnet's are up
https://www.scribd.com/document/3765...ances-April-16
At glance thoughts:
Magnum Moon is going to be on his 6th race since January. That's a lot.
Vino Rosso is going to be on his 7th in row since November. That's a lot
It will be Audible and Noble Indy's 5th in row. That's a lot.
Bolt D'Oro has lost to Good Magic, Solomini, and Justify, and Solomini has lost to Magnum Moon, Good Magic, Quip, and Bolt D'Oro.
Friezan Fire is a one turn horse. Promises Fullfilled can hang on at least to the mile if he runs 23 for the opener.
Free Drop Billy is Musket Man, or maybe Hoppertunity.
Don't care what the figs say, these horses are all almost the same speed.
Apparently, Santa Anita reverted to classic old time SA for Justify's first 2 races, then went back to new hokey pokey SA for his last race. But whether running 1:09 or 1:112, Justify has poor engergy distribution. He hits a wall at 7f. A horse with good energy distribution going 1:09, should be able to coast to the mile by at least 1:34. It has nothing to do with easing up or only running as fast as a you need to, it has to do with inertia and exsisting momentum. Regardless of whether new hokey pokey SA makes 1:09, 1:12, he did it again.
Mendelssohn has carried a real weight.
Good Magic is looking better to me now than any of the Americans.

Thanks for the link papillon, I've been searchin' for that one.

Please give us your thoughts on energy distribution, inertia and existing momentum comparing Justify to Good Magic.

Just remember Justify HAD to win his last...Good Magic just needed to hit the board. This is a chess game for Chad, not checkers.

Chad has never won a Kentucky Derby and just got his first Triple Crown victory last year in a crapfest Preakness with Cloud Computing whom we haven't heard from since.
He is little doubt one of the best trainers on the planet today, but dirt horse racing for youngin's isn't exactly his specialty.
Chad IS playing checkers in this game against the likes of Baffert, Pletcher, O'Neill, Lukas, and others in the Kentucky Derby lexicon of greats.
I fully believe there is little doubt Chad will win one. But, will it be this year?

To clarify, I meant game as in this particular Derby trail. You're right though, I'm biased lol. I thought he did a fantastic job with Practical Joke and i think this ones much better.

Practical Joke was my favorite 3YO last year. I really liked that horse, and always felt there was something more to the bottom of him.
Good horse. Just not great.
Chad has his first monster on the 3YO Derby trail. Good Magic is as good of stock as there is against an extremely tough field.

Keep in mind Brown has only had four Derby starters and none were as good as this one. Over the next 10-15 years I expect him to win a few.
2013 Normandy Invasion 4th
2016 My Man Sam 11th and Shagaf DNF
2017 Practical Joke 5th

He ran huge in that Derby as well. 1:09 and change and was sitting just 2 or so back while taking the lead at the top of the stretch. Ran a bang up 4th.
Race was crazy stupid. While Normandy finished 4th; in an 18 horse field, after 6 furlongs, the horses that were 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th ended up finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. Normandy being the one one breaking up the worst to first Superfecta. Oxbow ran huge fairly close to the lead and then wired the Preakness.

Wait, what?
That's a lot considering Magnum Moon only ran 4 times in his life.
Vino Rosso is making his 4th start after a layoff in January.
Audible had a break for almost 2 months before the Florida Derby.
Noble Indy's 5th in a row but well spaced.
They don't run these horses like they did back in the early 1900s - they ran almost every week or two.
Just looks at these past Triple Crown winners - http://www.drf.com/news/triple-crown-winners-omaha
