Now...that's an ingenious way for the government to grab private property. Just make it all but impossible for owners maintain the property according to local codes.
Be sure to fill Mosty in, will ya?

I worked with a guy a couple decades ago that paid $150 a month to sleep in a walk in closet, him and two other guys working low end jobs at the same place chipped in and bought a car together. Sober, responsible, healthy people find a way to keep a roof over their heads, they don't go sleep in the streets.

you can put up all those shacks for them you want but they wouldn't live in em anyway. most are homeless because that's where they want to be. Living under a bridge or wherever.

I have to say, lots of great suggestions by the PA folks on how to deal with the chronically homeless. I hope they get passed along to decision makers.

The solution for the homeless, is for the homeless people that are sane to get an education, go to work, and better their own lives. I was homeless and that is what I did.
The people that are insane need to be institutionalized, and that's not going to happen.

In Pennsylvania, just the opposite happened about 10 years or so ago. The state wanted to close state institutions and lower costs, so that put dangerously ill people on the street or into group homes where the workers were making minimum wages. At one such group home, a worker put bleach into an unmarked bottle, and guess what a patient did?

Little houses are a great idea. a couple hundred thousand at $100K a piece will be a great jobs program for construction and builders.
$20,000,000,000 is not much money in the great scheme of things, for the sixth largest economy in the WORLD.

How can you say that?
Why, they did the same thing in NYC a few years back, and since, a couple of those people have gone to become MAYOR!

There's a reason for most things.......
I always love all these threads dissing California with abandon.
Truth is, the armchair critics would give up a testicle each to live here.
Constant put downs convert into outrageous envy.
