Guys and Gals do yourself a favor and watch the stretch run of this race and keep an eye on the 6 who is on the rail in second place. Would love to be a fly on the wall when he gets called in by the stewards.

Just watched the replay. Appeared to be the most blatant stiff job i have ever seen. It was just so obvious it makes me wonder if there was any reason that would explain it. Other than the obvious.

He stiffed that horse so bad.... he had a 1/4 of a mile to angle out and made zero attempt to do so. I don't want to hear any excuses. Pure larceny.

JOCK: "You see, I have always heard that slower traffic should keep right. I came up behind him and I was honking and flashing my headlights, but he wouldn't move over to let me pass."
STEWARD: "Oh, okay. Just put on your turn signal next time and go around him"

Some of you guys really think it was a "stiff"? I don't know..if that was the plan it could've been done in a manner that wouldn't raise eyebrows. Just another creative way for this professional maiden to lose...again.

He lugged in a few times but to the public's naked eye it looks like he was never trying. He never did attempt to go around the horse in front of him the entire stretch, which is what makes it look so very very bad.

I don't think Thorton intentionally stiffed the horse. However, I do think he made an error in judgement which resulted in his mount getting trapped in no man's land on the rail. In my opinion Thorton was standing up in the irons to avoid clipping heels with the #3 horse who was directly in front of him for the entire stretch run. I also suspect the rider of the #3 horse did a little race riding and managed to keep Thorton's horse trapped in the pocket.

No where to go. Often the horses and/or riders in IL will fail to hold the rail spot on the turn, but this one didn't seem to. Too close. Professional maide horse - back off, and the horse might quit. Can't urge, no where to go, that's how riders and horses end up on the ground and on/over the rail. Race riding ahead, wouldn't veer out intentionaly to let him through. If rail did open up, no telling if the horse would have the will to go through the hole. Misstimed ride to be in that spot, rallying inside behind several horses. I'm sure he'd love to have that one back. Young rider leading at the meet, wins a lot, gamble inside didn't pay off this time.
