Santa Anita just took a race off the turf with 2 hours notice

If you bet the pick 6 you are hosed.

An hour later, they decided to make the race an "all"..

That said, the rainstorm was predicted. They had already taken a race off the turf. There was no reason to wait until bets were in to do this.

The P6 and Late P4 turned into an absolute trainwreck.

In their defense, I'm not sure what they could do other than simply not making those bets available ahead of time. And the outrage from that would have been horrific.

Just once I would like to see a turf race run on this side of the pond with a turf course listed as "heavy." And don't hand me this "unsafe" business: They do it all the time over in Europe, and if horses were breaking their legs and jockeys were breaking their necks right and left, I think we would know about it.

I dont think the reason was safety but they have one turf course and still 3 months to go. Comparing those short euro meets is not a real comparison.

But even on the absolute last day of a meeting, races get taken off the turf. What are they doing? Saving the turf course for next year?
