Saw a very cool dude around my age the other day at home depot. He was rocking the jammies, and casually pulling it off. Actually got me wondering if steeler bottoms come in 4x....

It can't be from these pages.
While entertaining to be sure. 99.99% of the people who seem to think they know how our game really works. clearly don't.
The other 00.01% get accused of being industry mouthpiece shills.
Not trying to start anything.
You've always treated me fairly.

You don't think I've made some connections in 20+ years? You don't think I know people?
I don't have to actually work in the industry to know what goes on inside in the industry.
I never claimed to be an INSIDER...you don't need to be an insider to know this isn't the industry to be in if you want to get rich or even live very comfortably...for the most part.

Nah. I make a point of not knowing what anybody makes. In that regard I am world champ at minding my own business.
To be honest, Mike-and this WILL blow your mind, I'm not even certain how much I make. I just accept the standard incremental raises, cash the checks , and focus on the work.

I have no idea what that post means.
But I wasn't suggesting you were one of those PJ wearing internet trolls.
Surely, you must agree there are people out there on the internet that just take shots at people in the industry without knowing their arse from a hole in the ground.

PJ's are an interesting cultural topic. Back when dinosaurs roamed, I went to job interviews in a suit and tie. My daughter in law, who works for a grocer, tells me it isn't unusual for young people to show up at their interview in pj's. I get that it isn't a reliable measure of a future employee's worth, but you'd think there'd be more effort into making a visual impression.

indeed...that's why I don't do twitter...and I get a kick out of people who criticize this message board and have abandoned it for twitter...as if twitter is better in terms of toxicity...

I have no clue about other positions but you can make a $100k a year race calling. A few have made a lot more, many have made a lot less. Since doing this full time again (175 days per year) in the last two years, I have made more than that each year but in 2018-2020 I made less than $4k a year, race calling.
My career ambitions are probably different than many others, though.

175 x 600 = $105,000
Please give your agent my number!
You are to be congratulated!
I'm being 100% serious.
Well done!

The moderator has displayed that he thinks he “ knows” everything about most everything. And clearly based in his numerous mind numbing right wing meme posts -he is all knowing about how everyone should view the world. Even as a conservative… I find closed minds a sign of mental weakness.

First of all, bringing people's politics into this room, moderator or not, is unfair ( and, let me be clear, I don't agree with his politics at all but this isn't the room for that stuff ) and I hardly see how he claims to know everything about everything in racing. Like everyone, he has opinions and gives them here.
Personally, I'll take his opinions on this over many posters here. He has at least one friend that does know a lot about what goes on behind the scenes in racing. Maybe he has more. Who knows.

One of my last encounters in a NYC OTB was of a grown man wearing PJ's with a bottle of Heineken in his pocket. At first I thought he looked ridiculous, then I started thinking maybe he was the one who had it all figured out.
Far as salaries go, with salary transparency laws now in effect you can keep your eye on the NYRA careers page & see what they've got on offer.

I was about to delete that post since it had nothing to do with the topic, but since you quoted it and replied I'll leave it to PA.
Reminder to all...NO POLITICS in the horse sections!
