Racing at Santa Anita with Marc Doche: Rain or Shine It's d'Lovely

Whether the rains expected for today come or not, my three-year-old filly It’s d’Lovely will make her first start in Southern California in today’s fourth race. She’ll face older females for the first time, but none of her rivals in for the $25,000 tag have won two races. The race appears safe to stay going a mile on the turf, but even if rain washes us on to the main track she’ll run.

After knocking out another edition of the Smackoff, Jim Rome is back in action in his customary spot in the seventh race with 2-to-1 morning line favorite Power Series, who makes his U.S. debut going a mile and an eighth on the turf course in an allowance optional claiming event with a $59,000 purse.
