Liberia citizenship
The west African country of Liberia is going to start allowing non black people the right to become citizens and own property, thanks to new president George Weah, the soccer superstar. Amazing how no one ever complained or mentions this around the world, but when South Africa restricted the right to vote for blacks and other things, well, that was a big deal.

Pull out a history book on Liberia and you might get an idea of how their constitution came out that way...
I'll give you a hint: We helped write it.

1840s it's where free blacks in the south were deported and part of the "back to Africa" movement. America's role in the history of Liberia is... interesting... is the word I'll use.
Point was a large amount of their issues and outright backwardness can be directed right back at us.

I guess that lets Reagan off the hook. Don't think he was around in the 19th century. But wait...maybe someone will blame Lincoln?

I have a coin with Reagan on it-
found this
"In the case of Liberia, the establishment of military dictatorship was the preferred method of the Reagan administration, which inevitably laid the foundation for the mess Liberia finds itself in today. The Reagan administration had given more than $500 million of American taxpayers' money to the Doe government for no other reasons than to keep it out of the claws of communism, even when it became apparent that the funds were inappropriately used. By so doing, the Reagan administration was intentionally acquiescent to the abuse of state power in Liberia by the Doe administration. Despite the fact that Mr. Reagan was directly linked to Liberia in his autobiography "Dutch", it was no secret that he had utter distain for Africa and the African peoples, which was evidenced by his failure to visit the continent throughout his eight years in office. Mr. Reagan's administration simply had no concrete agenda of a development nature for Africa. He abetted Apartheid in South Africa by his "constructive engagement" policy."

Blame the white man from a far off continent for their problems. I guess what I am taking out of all of this is that only the white man can either help or mess up Africa, since they are uneducated, unskilled, and lack the desired will power to solve their problems on their own. It seems that the dictator screwed everything up over there, no surprise at all. We fought our revolution and built a strong, prosperous country, why can't the Africans do the same.
