Here's a question for you. see if you can answer.

who holds the sports betting license for Monmouth Park?

Trick question and the difference between casinos funding race tracks and sports betting funding Monmouth Park.

Well the really bad thing about the big M is that Both the Giants and the Jets plays in the sports complex but the Meadowlands must be closed on games they play. Need to renegotiate that.

They have partnered with Betfair for their online business so thats a plus in their favor. Online at Betfair should be good for 500,000,000 a year in handle

Thanks BiggestAl.

A few thoughts and a question:

-The new jersey jets and new jersey giants will probably want a piece of the action. I hope they don't get a dime.

-Monmouth said screw you and in fact will sue the NFL for all the years they were stonewalled by them.

-Monmouth and Meadowlands have had a working relationship for years now. Hope it continues.

-If Meadowlands is open for simulcasting even without live racing, they should be allowed to take bets.

-Imagine if football fans could park, walk over to The Big M, make a bet on that day's game, cross the parking lot and go to the game.

Is there a timetable on when meadowlands will be able to open their sportsbook on site?

In 7-10 years, you'll see the same thing that happen to the casino revenues...someone will see they aren't making enough money (whether it be the state or a private company) and ask why are we funding these horseman and their product that noone wants? The rules will be changed and the piggybank will be raided. Babysteps, its all just babysteps for now

I was there briefly late Friday afternoon and until about 1 Sunday. Sunday was packed. Real packed and i left early. I went to a Father's Day about 3 4 years ago and it was only modestly crowded.

The difference here is is that the way the bill was written the NJ tracks and the casinos will benefit from sports wagering both in person and online why do you think Atlantic City is trying to reinvent it’s self with the possibility of horse racing occurring at the Alantic city race track again I don’t know about the other states but New Jersey will always put money into the tracks from this revenue stream called sports wagering but thank you for your opinion on how it may shake out in The future but i think you are dead wrong.

On-line is especially good and we here in Jersey. can pick between betfair (meadowlands) and/or will hill (monmouth). Image its thanksgiving and you have obligations, however you have both the betfair and will hill app downloaded. give me a parlay of the 2 ds (dallas and detroit) without stepping foot anywhere. it will be huge and benefit both the TB's and Harness horse people.

Anyone checked out the book at Monmouth yet? If so, how's the sports bar and food? Heading down tonight with a buddy to bet some games and grab a bite. Hopefully Jorge Navarro enjoys my contribution to purses.

I've been there but did not eat or drink there. The inside part will be lively, there are some attractive bar maids. It may even be tough to get a seat. The outside part is the reverse side of the main line betting windows. Same seats, that bathroom is a hoot vintage 1930s. The outside betting windows are where you would go to get your Haskell hat or other giveaway. The other end towards the finish line had a race teller last friday evening. The gift shop was also open (i wasn't there too late).
Here's hoping for you to get a chance to yell Adios Amigos!

Was there a bunch of times off-season. Didn't eat anything heard food is so-so. Service is so-so but friendly. Comfortable seats and plenty of TVs. Will be crowded in the room today with weather- even if not rainy it is wet and a northeast wind will keep things brisk in front of the grandstand. There is a ton of space outside of the bar. If I were going there today to do some sports betting I would bring in a chair and maybe a small table and set up shop outside the bar in the cavernous grandstand.

First Sports betting report for Monmouth

Article:

https://www.app.com/story/sports/201...lly/776544002/

raw numbers:

a little slow but it looks like "hold" is doing well.

Lots of squares out there betting sports.
