NYRA Jackpot P6
The head of NYRA David O'Rourke has stated among other reasons that 'customer demand and the marketplace' are the 'rationale' for moving to an 0.20 Jackpot P6 bet. As I've stated ad-nauseam that I live on consols, I can't attest to his marketplace response but as far as customer demand goes, what do you all think?

"Gimmie Five! "
We had to know it the rainbow stuff was coming...
Jackpot/Rainbow-6 has been a good model in the market.
Those mandatory days are worth the work.
Non-mandatory days make the Pick-5 even more attractive.
Pick-5 is the horseplayers bet, at this time

I've seen the Andy Beyer/Ron Nicoletti video posted here where Ron asked Andy what his pick six ticket at the days Gulfstream card would look like. And after Andy gives his opinion of the jackpot pick six, the expression on Ron's face is priceless.
Could someone post it again?
And post it on the Paulick Report's DRF's articles about this story?

Yup, you know I agree.
This makes it a no-brainer.

I used to play the pick 6 every time I played; split some nice ones w/a another regular pick 6 player. So there are no $2 pick 6's left?

That's 'brutal honesty', but it's also showing ' love' to the avg. horseplayer.
Sharing some insight and truth to anyone willing to listen.
Brave enough to tell the truth.
Beyer is an all-time great.

I don't know if it's good or bad. Probably bad for big bettors. But I'm a small bettor and much more likely to play it with a .20 minimum.
I'm not sure in the long run how much people like me would add to the pool. I could be wrong but I think this wouldn't appeal to casual horse racing fans that much.

Opening day I played a $2.00 pick six. It cost $80.00. I hope the rain stays away. They haven't implemented the sucker version yet.
While I label the jackpot bets as SUCKER pick 5's and sixes, when playing a track that offers them I do see if I can make a ticket. My criteria is 1)Can I make a cheep ticket? 2) Can I scoop up the entire pool, or share the pool with the least amount of betters. If not 1 or 2, I usually don't play.
A few years ago I handicapped Arlington. And as I do at every track to see if I can put a ticket together. That day that ticket cost $6.00. I could afford to lose six bucks, so played it and it won and paid $60.00 Whoopee? I wished they still offered their traditional $1.00 version.

John - from someone who played, how did that last race, late-surface-switch yesterday affect payoffs?? I haven't looked back yet.
Tried to play a cheap/chalky pick-5 today... Wanted to bet Against the and the in the 1st race... , but Twinspires would not let me.

Started with the 12-1 morning line, Then my entry in race 6 finished second, race 7 finished third, Giant Zinger didn't like yielding turf as it became for that race. My single the didn't like sloppy. Then the won but I cancelled my bet because of scratches and yielding turf. Last all three of my horse scratched so inherited the winner since it was an all.
I went 3 for 6.
The only horse I bet during the pick six sequence was race 6 the and $20 win and $40 place, collected $92..
I had all in the first leg an and the singles were too chalky.

Thanks John
tough sequences, even with good 'capping...
Some of the 'Toga Pick-5's and 6s go 'deeper' than the avg. card, relative to 'field-size', ... you've got more live long shots, more leaders willing to push hard and either win a duel or be a tired duo in deep stretch...
Andy has given out at least a few gems so far...
