Fueding in California: Lou Raffetto (TOC) goes on offense.

http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/sports/ci_19110955

Excerpt:

So you think Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill are the only dysfunctional ones with their gridlock and inability to get anything done?
Well, I bring you the Thoroughbred Owners of California and California Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, who are waged in a battle for supremacy in the state.

A sample of some of the rancor involved:

Lou Raffetto, who took over as president of the TOC in late June, doesn't like some of the emails California horse racing activist Andy Asaro has been sending out in mass volume to industry officials.

"If guys like Andy Asaro think that by writing what he writes on a daily basis, that that's going to make anything happen quicker, he's sadly mistaken," Raffetto said. "Andy ... unfortunately he must not have a job. Nobody with a job could spend that much time writing what he writes."

Of course, Asaro's take on the TOC-CTHA skirmish takes a very different turn.

"I'm not the guy that raised the takeout," he said. "I'm not the guy who said that all we need is bigger purses and bigger fields and handle would grow. I'm not the guy who's shaking down the tracks over the pick five takeout. I'm not the guy who went on the Steve Byk (racing) show and blatantly lied to Steve Byk and his listeners, and I'm not the guy calling up owners who signed the petition and lying to them."

Back and forth we go, with no end in sight.

The words that didn't make the article:

I said:

The truth is that it’s pretty sad when a guy like Lou is willing to lie and twist the truth for a paycheck. Since he’s been here he’s basically thrown his integrity in the toilet in my opinion. They basically want Horseplayers to shut up and bet and that's not going to happen.

Good job Andy.

I had a battle like this a few times and if its one thing I learned when they go on personal attacks they are running scared.

When I took on the electric company for the entire neighborhood it sounded just like this till the worm turned.

Never give up the fight even though only a few will remember how much time and effort you put into it.

Thank you Andy for your dedicated efforts in California to get the horseplayers (customers) to be recognized as a most important element in the success or failure of our industry .

Without horse players wagering, it is over.

It seems amusing that Lou Raffetto is complaining because some one else (ANDY) is complaining. If that is the best Lou can do, he has a lot of problems.

I find it pathetic when people start to swim & lash out as they try to save their jobs. ( read paycheck )

If Raffetto has something to say of substance, the words will stand on their own. Those that yell or plead the loudest have the least to say & they use volume to make up for the lack of substance.

Lou Raffetto has not been a very good mouth piece for the TOC.

In the article Lou said.

"If you really want to help California racing, stop running it into the ground with your tongue," he said.

Two weeks ago
Lou said...."the CTHA Is led by dissident trainers with checkered past including Insider trading."

Lou refuses to go on the Roger Stein show again because he can't trust what will come out of his mouth. The TOC made a mistake hiring this Hack.

The Roger Stein show should go over the subject at some point in the show. It starts in a little less than an hour (8:00 am pst).

If you miss the live show then the archived shows come up about an hour after the live show.
