Golden Gate COVID outbreak affects 200 people

Quote:
More than 200 people living or working on-site at Golden Gate Fields racetrack in Berkeley have tested positive in an outbreak of COVID-19, city officials confirm.

Berkeley's public health department said they are working with the racetrack, operated by 1/ST Racing, to ensure proper testing, quarantine and isolation methods are followed.

Racing will not resume at Golden Gate Fields on Thursday as track management had hoped, with the track remaining shut down because of a COVID-19 outbreak.

Racing was canceled for one week on Nov. 13 with the shutdown later extended through Nov. 30.

“At this time, our reopening is still up in the air,” said racing secretary Patrick Mackey.
