I have been to Saratoga Springs, but not during the racing season. In 1990 I visited the Horse Racing Hall of Fame on my way to the Belmont Stakes. I drove from Chicago. I stopped for an afternoon of racing at Finger Lakes, visited Cooperstown and finally the Harness Hall of Fame in Goshen, NY. While in Goshen I also visited Historic Track the oldest active trotting track in the country.

Hopefully I can meet you there or in June at Arlington.

Not worried about that at all. I am worried about "THE FOUNTAIN"

It's a little known but long held tradition that PA members coming to the Spa for the first time remove their footwear and wade through the fountain while daring security to throw them out.

Question Arlington Park

I am concerned about the Arlington Park Weekend. With all this crap going on
-- Are we still moving forward with the plans...where are we at? I am not thrilled
with AP.. Sounds like corporate greed is overflowing. Anybody have insight into this..I see TBwinner thinking of moving his horses.

Fear not...

I plan on having a talk with Arlington Park management...to see if this mess can't be straightened out in time for our get-together.

I'll make them an offer they can't refuse...

I am glad this all got sorted out. I love AP and am eagerly waiting for this weekend so I can meet some great people and handicappers. Hopefully it will be a profitable one and even more so the knowledge you can gain from being around great horseplayers.

Things are shaping up nicely for the First Annual PA AP Outing!

By my count we have 19 people who have said they will attend. Only a couple werent 100% sure. And I suspect a few more folks will pop up as we get closer, and one or two will back out. Please do post updates here - I will need a fairly accurate count for dinner. The size of the group for the track is more flexible of course.

As of now, the "yes" indications (a couple of maybes in each):

Friday - Arlington - 16
Saturday - Arlington - 17
Saturday - dinner - 11 (plus 3 maybe plus possibly my wife)
Sunday - Arlington - 15

Still working on another guest or two in addition to HANA's Bob Dwyer. But already I can see that we will have a great weekend!

Only a few folks needed a hotel room. Someone mentioned that he can get the horsemen rate at a nearby hotel...please chime in.

And for those coming from out of town, if you are not renting a car, let me know. With this many people I am sure we can arrange for someone to pick you up. I can take a few folks as I will likely be driving my (decrepit, old, beat-up) minivan.

Finally, calling on the locals for dinner suggestions. My perference is a decent/nice place but not one that is ultra-expensive. With the size of the group if there is a place that has a separate room that would be ideal. I'll also check with my Mrs as she is pretty good with restaurants.

When we get much closer I will have more details on where we will meet etc. (Chris, we should talk in the next couple of weeks about specifics)

PM me or email me chris @ horizonracingstable.com if you need hotel arrangements. The horsemen's rate is valid at Hotel Bollero but that place had some kinda robbery last year during Million Day so let's avoid that

Not 100% sure yet. Chris thinks he can get us a private area on Saturday. We may play Fri/Sun a little more loosely - pick a place to hang out. But stay tuned - working on it (and open to suggestions).

ArlJim - Dont think I had you on my list - are you planning to attend all 3 days? Dinner Sat night? Just let me know. Thx!
