Living Classic winners descendent of Living Classic winners

Of all the horses who have won a Triple Crown race only 7 of them who are alive have produced descendants who have also won a Triple Crown race so far.

Grindstone (1996 Derby)
Birdstone (2004 Belmont) son
Mine That Bird (2009 Derby) grandson

Birdstone (2004 Belmont)
Mine That Bird (2009 Derby) son

Curlin (2007 Preakness)
Exaggerator (2016 Preakness) son
Palace Malice (2013 Belmont) son

Empire Maker (2003 Belmont)
Always Dreaming (2017 Derby) grandson
American Pharaoh (2015 Triple Crown) grandson

Fusaichi Pegasus (2000 Derby)
Ruler On Ice (2011 Belmont) grandson

Thunder Gulch (1995 Derby & Belmont)
Point Given (2001 Preakness & Belmont) son

A.P. Indy (1992 Belmont)
Bernardini (2006 Preakness) son
Rags To Riches (2007 Belmont) daughter
Super Saver (2010 Derby) grandson
Orb (2013 Derby) grandson
California Chrome (2014 Derby & Preakness) great grandson
Tonalist (2014 Belmont) great grandson
Creator (2016 Belmont) great grandson
Cloud Computing (2017 Preakness) grandson
Tapwrit (2017 Belmont) great grandson

I found how interesting it was to see how many of A.P. Indy's descendants have taken a Classic race. Going a distance is flowing strong through A.P. Indy if you look back to Seattle Slew, Secretariat, and Princequillo. Tapit is the "Savior Of Staminia" because as long as his offspring are placing in the top 3 and winning the Belmont and people are fighting over his foals in the sales rings as well as his sky high stud fee, we have nothing to worry about when people say horses aren't bred for distance anymore and I say "Bull crap" to that. Hope you enjoyed my digging and finding. Have a good Fathers Day.

I am sure the list would have more if I counted the deceased horses.

If you look at in the money performances in the Belmont AP Indy is even better. He's a huge stamina influence (of course his sire won the Belmont too).

Scuba was sired by Tapit who won the Greenwood Cup at 12 furlongs, Temperence Hill Inv. at 13 furlongs, and the Marathon Stakes at 14 furlongs and Tacticus who won the Birdstone and Temperence Hill at 13 furlongs was sired by A.P. Indy are both examples of the stamina found in his bloodline.
