Seems like the Derby is just too soon. I don't think Baffert would abuse him just to make the Derby. First we will see how he does today. Looks like s very soft G2,

May be, but Justify's first race was in February.

Of course, as it turned out, Justify had some, um, chemical help.

Thanks for replying to that nonsense. I was tempted to, but deemed it was not worth it.

crying about that time when Justify had a scopolamine overage, is like crying about the time Harvey Keitel took a puff of marijuana, in Bad Lieutenant.

Very soft? The BC Juvenile and 2yo Eclipse winner is in the race.

I actually thought Fast Enough might have enough to upset Nadal based on how he looked pre-race, but I had the wrong longshot.
Nadal looked good, though he appeared to have to work for the win more than anticipated. Good to hear Baffert will give him time until the Rebel, which seems the next target. That gives him a month to recoup and 4 races before the Derby (if he makes it that far)...
eta: and my mother was very happy he won. She's still pulling for this horse due to his name, lol.

This is awful. That was against the rules. That's cheating.
One reason we are going to be put out of business eventually is because when people cheat and dope horses, we protect them rather than taking strong action.
Justify was a doped horse who should have been disqualified from the Santa Anita Derby and was a fake Triple Crown winner.

Yea, and I happen to agree with your description in the other thread "high cruising speed".
Unless he's unlucky, I'd guess that his Rebel Stakes will be a lot more reasonable in terms of pace.
Either he'll clear the lead, or if a cheaper rival is quarter-horsed from the gate, it isn't so important to fight to stay in front (as it was in a 7f San Vicente).
He's very good. I guess we'll see how good, once he has a chance to rate and re-break, and show whether he wants to do that at a two turn route.

Final two sentences of The Paulick Report article about the McGaughey suspension:
https://www.paulickreport.com/news/t...-test-in-ohio/
Quote:
The suspension, which Crawford said follows ARCI guidelines, is effective Feb. 6 through Feb. 20. Two horses from the stable ran at Gulfstream Park over the Feb. 8-9 weekend in the name of trainer Robert Medina.
|
Imo, 'how it's done' is something that needs to change.
There needs to be reciprocity across racing jurisdictions. Otherwise, it isn't really a suspension.

And........another thread slides off the road, crashes through the guardrail, and ends in a rocky ravine below.
