Warms my Heart

To see the Van Berg silks running at Oaklawn. I'm guessing Jack has passed as I noticed a horse named Jack Van Berg racing at either Laurel or Mahoning a few weeks ago. When I first started playing the horses Van Berg was winning 300 races a year. Last I saw him in SoCal 10-15 years ago he was mostly working with Warren's left overs that Jorge Gutierrez was passing on. I'm guessing Tom is a son, or heck, maybe even a grandson.

Jack Van Berg passed in December 2017. Tom is his son.

The documentary "Born To Rein" covers Jack Van Berg and his father Marion, along with John Nerud and other Nebraska racing influences. It's available in full on YouTube:
