I wasn't making a judgment on their usage in a military context.

Then you get the reports claiming radiation from Chernobyl didn't turn out anywhere near as disastrous as people once thought. Not disastrous for the plant and animal life left behind, nor the people living relatively close by...

All those worrying about radiation must have been early Trump supporters...worried about everything.

That’s really all we cared about extending into the 1950’s. It wasn’t until the scientific community started making trouble that we semi-seriously looked at the adverse environmental effects.

Probably fake news.

Was it military or ws peace?
The result was peace. Japan NEVER went to war with its neighbors again. The nukes brought peace. And then we built them into a manufacturing giant.

nukes = peace and prosperity

nukes end war.

Casualties for an invasion on mainland Japan were predicted to exceed well over 400,000 (National War Museum)

the acute effects of the atomic bombings killed between 90,000 and 146,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000 and 80,000 people in Nagasaki; roughly half of the deaths in each city occurred on the first day. (Wikipedia)

(Assuming your question was actually looking to be answered.)

Ah. Tom the Polemicist.

Maybe do us a favour and use a cute symbol when one of your questions is rhetorical.
