Based on what he said about the Derby I'm sure Andy Beyer would say that this only cost her a length at most, so it didn't change the outcome.

I agree but really looked like Angel was wanting to take her wide. Seemed he looked back .
It was obvious Codex was fit for the win But interesting how they said
Horses don’t come down in the Preakness either and was questionable
whether Angel actually hit her with his whip ..
Being a filly it was sensitive and Angel got death threats ugh .
Firestone’s sued but lost . Very interesting post race scenerio but I believe
the decision was fairly quick .

One thing about it was Pimlico had a very simplistic camera system back then. Just 2 angles (finish line pan and 3/8th pole). Churchill, like the NYRA and Southern California tracks, has several cameras and can look at incidents on the turn from a bunch of different perspectives.

love watching those old races. I had Codex, but it appears he should have came down to me; especially after Cordero saw her coming and intentionally herded Genuine Risk

Seems about right for a bunch of morons.
why did they harrow the track when the radar showed rain definitely coming?

Not only did Cordero herd GR he also struck across the face with his whip. This camera doesn't show it clearly but I remember one of the TV cameras definitely showed the filly flinching as she was struck. After that she had no desire to try to pass Codex. She did get a measure of revenge in the Belmont when she finished well ahead of Codex and the "evil imp" of Cordero, though she was beaten for the win by Temperance Hill.

Do you think Saez has eyes in the back of his head ? How would he know wow scraped. Max security ?

TG should have gotten the days ...

Actually, that rant was in favor of that person who has nothing to do with racing.
I support PA's position in any case.

The only other ruling in May is David Cohen getting fined for submitting false information on his license application.

Also of note among the rulings is the 3 day suspension for Tyler Gafflione on April 25th for careless riding.
So 15 days for failing to control your horse if you have brown skin, but only 3 for careless riding if you are white.

Sounds legit.

There is zero evidence of racial discrimination here, and extensive evidence of both prior misconduct by Saez and dishonest conduct by Saez and his lawyers in this proceeding.

15 days is perfectly justified.

The suspension sentences and the Derby DQ itself are proof.

In the 90s I knew of trainers that were hesitant to use jockeys if English wasn't their first language. In an inquiry/objection scenario an English speaking jockey has a far better chance at explaining his actions clearly than a foreign born jockey who might use English as a 2nd or 3rd language.

If they were going to DQ every jockey who won the Derby who wasn't white then there would have been one heck of a lot of DQs going all the way back to the 1870s.
