By the same token, summing up the horse's botttomside pedigree by the dam's racing record isn't exactly much better.
Vekoma's dam was a G1 sprinter, but I like to see sprinting ability / speed in a horse's pedigree because sprinting past others in the stretch is pretty useful IMHO. That's how Zenyatta always did things. W/out that sprinting speed (which was obvious in her early races) no way she gets by everyone like she did.
