I'm not an expert on Australian racing. Like all the skeptics, I know they've been padding her record a bit the last year or two.
However, people that are very familiar with the quality of Australian racing relative to other countries like Timeform and Racing Post have consistently had her rated near or at the top of the world and much better than early in her career.
There are also people that have timed her splits and closing times. Some of them have been among the best you are ever going to see anywhere in the world.
I also know what I have seen when she's faced better fields. She pissed on them with a ton in reserve.
That's enough for me to know that peak Winx was an outstanding world class mare that was not the same as the one that was losing and finishing up the track against First Seal. She got much better. That much is obvious.

Of course she improved since the First Seal days. The guy making the comments is a troll or a mental patient.
She turned the corner as a late season 3yo. Not every horse peaks early of course. I am one of those people who time her splits and rate them etc. she’s the best I have ever assessed over 1600m+ in this country, in 25 years of rating horses. Black Caviar’s best figure was the same as Winx’s best, but Black Caviar was a 1000-1200 horse. We have been lucky in this country to see two generational horses in such a short period of time.
Winx is, in my mind, second only to Phar Lap in the history of our racing. And this is not “tomato cans” like the mental patient said, this country has always produced VG racehorses. Stayers these days not so much but winx is not a stayer.
If I see another as good as her in my life I’ll count myself lucky. Her and Black Caviar the last few years... my God they were good.
