Meat not expensive enough? Just wait....
This is what comes from central planning: an increase in prices due to the government.

The morons on the left insist 40% of our corn production go to fuels.
Mandate using much needed food to go for crappy fuel, while REFUSING to do anything to increase domestic drilling and reduce our dependency on middle east oil. The Hussein part of Obama has a clear agenda here, and it is not the welfare of this country. FUBO and your fat-assed wife.

Tom,
The corn => fuel policies are from the Bush administration (though I suppose it's arguable that Bush was a moron on the left). Domestic production of oil is up about 15%. We're a net exporter of oil.

Yes, it's Bush's fault. Boy, that makes me feel so much better and now we can whistle a happy tune. Problem solved!
Typically of government -- always over estimating the up side and never even consider the down side.

That's true but the EPA could suspend the ethanol mandate.

Bush has not been in office for 4 years.
We do NOT drill anywhere near enough to satisfy our needs - there is no excuse for the ridiculous lack of drilling going on here - both in terms of energy independence and in term of jobs.

It may have made sense to devote a large part of our former corn surpluses to fuel (I don't know) but now that there is going to be a clear corn shortage this year, it really ought to be reconsidered. We need the food, plus stable food prices - as well as gas prices. It it less expensive, or more expenside, or about the same, to add ethanol to our gasoline?

Gee, Steve, what do you think, Obama actually cares about anything like that? How does that help HIM get votes?

Me thinks that the President feels he does not need to know his job, just his game.

The government has artificially supported agricultural prices going all the way back to Eisenhower. Nothing new here.

I should have been more clear, we are a net exporter of oil products.
