RIP Toby Keith Covel
I enjoyed your music.
Keith had made numerous trips to the Middle East, starting in 2002, to perform for those serving in the U.S. military. "My father was a soldier. He taught his kids to respect veterans," said Keith. "It's that respect and the thank-you that we have a military that's in place and ready to defend our nation; our freedom

I come from a very large family and a few of them have met him and thought highly of him. One cousin lived across the street from his estate and got to know him at church. This community (Norman) will miss him. He was a fixture at OU football games and was very popular and friendly.

MY father was a soldier. My two brothers and I had to stand with our hearts crossed whenever...WHENEVER the national anthem played on TV or anywhere. THAT'S how one begins to instill patriotism in a young child.

As late as a year ago he was still running a few horses.

Keith owned Dream Walkin Farms. I had to look it up. I used to see horses on his acreage, but I don't know if they were trained there.

He raced horses at Remington Park, OK. I think he actually owned over 200 horses.
