If that photo were 55 years old, the guy in the background would be wearing a uniform with a number on it.

I agree with this take. I have some old horse photos from the 40's that look similar in style and composition.
I'm going to nominate for consideration River Downs. The background ridge could be the Kentucky hills across the river. The vegetation doesn't seem to be subtropical or Mediterranean (i.e. California). Now the space between the track and the river is all trees, but it easily could look different after 70 or 80 years. The current trees are well-watered, to say the least.

Found these old pictures of River Downs. Could be there.

I'm guessing Longacres. Looks like the horse just took a left out of the paddock heading to post parade. That walk way in the infield turns left towards the tote board. Mt. Rainier is too far to the right for the picture to capture it. Same with the signature tree line on the outside of the clubhouse turn. OP may be Nick from WA. I never saw Playfair in Spokane or Yakima Meadows, and have never been to Portland Meadows.
It sure does look like the Renton Highlands in the background. I feel like I've experienced that very view a million times. That infield looks very much like Longacres. That looks like the walkway from the paddock to the residence that was behind the tote board.

I could swear that I saw this picture at the antique/store mall in Seaview WA last year. Is that where you saw it?

It's obviously Longacres, so it seems a pretty good bet...
The humans in the photo are pretty easy, but the horse is a puzzler.

I'm feeling pretty confident that it is. Those two little trees at the end of the hedges that flank the walkway give me a serious deja vu feeling.

My vacation home is in Seaview, and I am going down this weekend. I will check the antique store to see if the picture is there. If so, I will see if I can look at the back. We need to solve this mystery. It wouldn't be horrible if Nick could come back to his own thread and tell me if that is the right store. Aw hell, it is only a couple blocks away. It will give me something to do.

It's Longacres, but if you need the exercise then go for it.

I forwarded the picture to a buddy at Golden Gate Fields where Jack Leonard works. He says that it is him and the track is Longacres.
