Bob Gibson is dead.
Legendary Hall Of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson has succumbed to pancreatic cancer at the age of 84. One of the best ever.

Scary, scary guy. Baseball lowered the mound because of him. In ‘68 an era of 1.12. Best World Series pitcher ever.

Saw him pitch a few times in the early days of the Astrodome. He had a unique delivery that intimidated batters, and his fastball was scary fast.
Him and Koufax dominated the National League.
Rest in Peace...tough guy!!!

Gibson was a great competitor and one tough guy. Saw him pitch many times and he wrecked havoc in NY that's for sure. Mucho respect. I remember that 1964 series with the Yankees. In the 7th game he gave up a 3 run homer to the Mick and then Boyer and Linz homered off him in the 9th but he stayed in there and toughed it out and pitched a complete game. If I had a game on the line and needed a right handed pitcher Gibson gets the call from me.

Gibby played, I think, for maybe a year with the Harlem Globetrotters too. He owned the plate and batters dug in at their own risk. McCarver always said he was scared to ever go out to the mound while catching him for fear of Gibson's wrath.
Now pitchers don't even think of pitching inside. Wish Barry Bonds would have had to go against Gibby, the way he crowded the plate he would have been in trouble.
RIP

Whenever he would pitch, I would ask my mom if I could have her ticket and go to the game with my dad. I use to love to see him pitch. RIP Bob

As good as it gets.....
Hard to find a better competitor and pitcher.
RIP Bob Gibson

Gibson made some of the greatest right handed hitters in history look terrible.

Was into Stratomatic baseball as a kid and seeing that 1.12 ERA on the bottom of that card is etched in my memory
