It sure can't hurt.
Love to see them finally complete that turf course.
(still ****** me off when I drive by the old Longacres site and see Boeing has done nothing with it)

I was told part of the thing with the turf course wasn't just $$ it's that the ground below might be too soft. who knows if that's true.
Yeah I've gone out and walked on that trail that goes through old longacres. The old green outer rail is still there. As is some of the flooring

A turf course in Seattle? Can you say, "off the turf."

You would actually be surprised by how much it does not rain during the summer barn32. Of course, the problem is that you have to get into June for the dry weather. I think what Jason is referring to with the soft ground is that the infield is actually a storm water drainage pond. During the winter, it fills up and does not dry until the local watershed can accommodate the release of water.

They own the land and have been subsidizing the purses to a tune of $11MD, so it is hard to say what changes/improvements will be made.
I have visited EmD several times over the years, and it costs $7 to come in, even if you arrive many hours ahead of the live post time. This cost is much higher than for other tracks.
My wife visited with me last year, and she liked the place, so there is a plus for EmD.

I don't know who the Hekawi are. Their casino is a MASSIVE money maker and is just up the hill from EmD. Part of their program with helping EMD with purses was helping to get tribal members jobs as grooms/assistants etc.
We shall see. It's always been a great horse racing area so hopefully it can continue through this difficult time.

You've never hear of the lost Hekawi tribe?
If you go out into the forests of Washington and listen very carefully you will hear their mournful call..."Where the Hekawi??"

On top of that, if you want any real view of the racing, you also have to buy a seat upstairs. The food, however, was a great value, that first stand on the North end of the lower concourse.

Actually, Seattle receives about 45 inches of rainfall per year.
It is the frequency of rainfall which gives the perception of constant precip in the SeaTac area.
To date, the normal precip at Sea Tac airport is 28"...

The Hekawi were bought off forty years ago. They couldn't run a casino anyway. Not without help from General Agarn. He's gotta be a General by now?
