Baffert horse may very well win but an inside post with a horse who doesnt break, feels like its a good time to take a shot.

rats... only 5 horses entered...
these have been some slim pickings in the Santa Anita Stakes lately...
In general, SA has failed to get my attention, and I've mostly looked to Gulfstream and Sa to start the year...
I glance at it for certain angles, but boring racing... and I've really tried to like it.
I guess unless I come up with a reach of a multi-race wager to the mildly interesting #1 Desormeaux Bros Big Chief, that I hope Coliseum runs huge. He's a popular/polarizing horse, so I'm rooting for him to stay in the game until he runs in another real race.

Nyquist and Exaggerator started their Derby runs in this race a few years back. Like that year, this one is hard to play and get any value without going fairly cold. I might make a token / tri wager mainly so I can cheer for something while watching the race.

Sparky Ville will be in a good spot behind the three speed horses (err...or two speed horses if Coliseum doesn't break).
He's my choice.

Agree. Looks like he can break well and settle off the speed to produce a run to win from off the pace like Kanthaka did last year. I'm of the belief that Coliseum will either break halfway decent this time and crush the field or run out of the tri. If he does there is money to be made in the race.

If Much Better had been in this race he would have won, that is a serious 3yo sprinter.

Can he shake the shakes?
Took a quick look, didn't get into the handicappin' as deep as usual.
It's all or nothing at all for Coliseum in this one and Baffert knows it. Gets a 25% rail bias and gets a positive jock switch to Money Mike. Baffert is all in; no excuses w/plenty of room to run. If Coliseum can shake the shakes from his last race, I think he wins it.

Yep I keyed Sparky Ville and Savagery over the field, with Coliseum left out of one of the tickets.
It looks like Coliseum isn't that fast, or his mental problems are too much to overcome. I know he had the one blowout victory in his maiden romp. I don't think there was anything in that field though.
