Down a bit after several quarters of steady growth.

unemployed is very low ...
in my local paper, a guy wrote to the letter to the editors saying these numbers are bogus. They do not include people like him who have used up their unemployment compensation benefits.
I could not find if this is true, just mentions survey ...

Unemployment rate is not calculated by counting the number of people receiving unemployment benefits.
https://www.investopedia.com/ask/ans...ed-monthly.asp
As long as a person is unemployed and looking for work they are counted in the survey. The article above explains it all.

You finally got one thing right. Too bad you got so many wrong. It was clearly COVID-19. Quarter one of FY 22 ( October through December) coincided almost perfectly with the omicron surge.
Mark my words, there will be a big rebound in quarter 2.

How in the Hell do you think this is going to happen???
This Administration cannot even manage to stabilize the Economy...much less improve anything. The last 16 months is absolute proof of that. If this Administration was half as concerned about the Nation's Economical problems as it is Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter...everyday Americans wouldn't be in the predicament they are in. But...this Administration isn't. Americans have begun to see what the priorities of the Democratic Party are. This came to light in Elections held six months ago in Virginia.
Americans now see what the priorities of the Democratic Party are...and it is certainly NOT everyday Americans. The brazen Arrogance of the Democratic Party has already begun to cost them dearly...and that isn't stopping anytime soon. Hopefully, Democrats will continue this very same strategy all the way to November. Hillary Clinton couldn't lose in 2016. Terry McAuliffe couldn't lose in Virginia in 2021. These things happened BEFORE the Economy went to Shit...and the Inflation set in.
Liberals simply refuse to see that this Administration is on the wrong side of issues both Economically AND Socially. You, yourself, have stated on this Forum that it is worth it to you to "pay more" because you have the "Leadership" you desire. Problem is...WAY too many people don't view this in the same vacuum you do. Things have deteriorated...in multiple areas of everyday life...since Trump was vanquished. "Buyer's Remorse"? Possibly. All I know is where we stand now...and that is the person who garnered more votes than anybody in Presidential History now has an Approval Rating that is lower than the "hated" former President at the same time in their terms. Yet...so many of you only see "Trump gone"...and think the Happy Days have never ended...when they actually ended many months ago. Once again, hopefully your mindset stays this way. The same mindset that produced the shock, and outright despair, that was displayed last week at the announcement of the Twitter acquisition by Musk. To be so "smart"...some of you people never learn.

exactly, a government agency has NEVER lied about how they do something ... what was I thinking?
maybe how Moyorkis was telling Congress just this week he started with a dismantled system ... something that could not handle the 10K a day Biden invited in.

CNN Weighs In
CNN | Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large | April 28, 2022
Today is a disastrous day for Democrats' 2022 chances:
https://edition.cnn.com/2022/04/28/p...erm/index.html
Quote:
(CNN) The news that the US economy unexpectedly shrank over the first quarter of the year is an absolute body blow to Democrats already reeling amid growing economic concerns ahead of the 2022 midterm election.
The country's gross domestic product fell at an annualized rate of 1.4% between January and March -- a stunning reversal from the 6.9% GDP growth that the US recorded in the final quarter of 2021. (The GDP is seen as a broad guide to the overall health of a nation's economy.)
And in a decidedly ill omen, the GDP shrinkage was the worst performance of the measure since the economy went into recession amid the shutting down of the country in the spring of 2020.
Addressing recession fears on Thursday, President Joe Biden said: "Well, I'm not concerned about recession. I mean, you're always concerned about recession, but the GDP, you know, fell to 1.4%."
The GDP news comes on the heels of newly released polling data from Gallup that suggested that economy confidence is extremely low among the American public.
More than four in ten (42%) of Americans said that economic conditions in America were "poor," while another 38% said that they were only "fair" in Gallup's April survey. Just 2% said economic conditions were "excellent," while 18% said they were "good.")
More than three in four -- 76% -- of Americans said that the economy was getting worse, compared to 20% who said it was improving.
And Gallup's Economic Confidence Index, which measures respondents' feelings about the economy from +100 (very high) to -100 (very low), is currently at -39. (It was at -6 in July 2021.)
The economy -- as you might expect from those desultory numbers -- is a top-of-mind issue for many Americans. Around four in 10 Americans told Gallup that economic issues were the biggest problem facing the country, with inflation topping that list. (The Consumer Price Index hit 8.5% in March, the highest that number has been in 40 years.)
Add all of those factors up, and you get an absolutely toxic political environment facing Biden and Democrats as they prepare to defend their House and Senate majorities in November.
"It's the worst political environment that I've lived through in 30 years of being a political consultant," Biden pollster John Anzalone said recently. He's right.

During this terrible economy:
unemployment has dropped to 3.6%
Nearly eight million jobs have been created.
5.4 million small businesses have started up.
Average hourly earnings have increased by $1.83.
Current-dollar personal income increased $268.0 billion in the first quarter, compared with an increase of $123.9 billion in the fourth quarter.
Disposable personal income increased $216.6 billion, or 4.8 percent, in the first quarter, compared with an increase of $20.1 billion, or 0.4 percent, in the fourth quarter. Real disposable personal income decreased 2.0 percent, compared with a decrease of 5.6 percent.
Anyone with half a brain knows that the temporary, small drop in GDP COINCIDES EXACTLY with the omicron surge. That surge is over and Quarter two will see a resumption of positive GDP growth.

I am not going to address your "numbers", as your mind is already made up about what you want to believe.
If things are as Rosy as you paint them to be...then why the ominous report from CNN (yes, YOUR CNN)?
If things are as Rosy as you paint them to be...why is the President's Approval and Disapproval numbers where they are currently??? This certainly isn't reflective of the 81 million+ votes he got during the Election...and damned sure isn't the Rosy picture you paint in your reply to me. This is what I talked about in my previous post in this thread. The unmitigated Arrogance of Liberals. It is absolutely inconceivable to you people that there could be anything wrong with the Leadership of this Country...because Democrats are in charge of EVERYTHING on the Federal Level. The reality is a rapidly growing number of people (says a number of Polls) say there is something VERY WRONG with the direction of the Country right now. What these people also see is what this Administration...and Democrat-controlled Congress...consider a priority, vis-a-vis what they ignore (fiddling while Rome burns). The attitude that people like you have right now about the condition of Daily Life in America is EXACTLY the attitude you should keep until November. Then, when your Party, and it's Idiotic Agendas and Priorities get curb stomped in November...the real entertainment can begin watching how you Flakes deal with it.
