Yep, just the two of them alone in the Oval Office, The Donald and his ego. That looks like a majority vote for a veto to me.

I would suggest people here do not accept this ultra liberal poop, this partial shutdown could last several weeks.

What if Trump invokes "emergency powers" due to threat to national security? The straw to break his back? There's no telling what he might do, being cornered the way he is.

He is already invoking national security to put tariffs in place, which is clearly absurd, and no one in Washington cares enough to call him on it.

But then again, the bad guys could do a lot of damage with those Canadian 2x4s that are coming in here, so maybe it is the right thing to do.

The dems have no leverage at all or Pelosi wouldn’t be making the claim “we can’t get anything done until we reopen government”. She knows she has nothing and that trump is serious about keeping it closed

He can't fund anything with an executive order. Congress has the power of the purse.

All this over a tenth of 1 percent of the budget.

Defense has what 100 plus billion budget? Lots of discretionary money in there. And now with troops coming home it frees up more of that money to be used on border security. Anybody that thinks he can’t fund that wall by many means isn’t being honest with themselves or simply fools.

No there isn't. Congress passes an individual budget bill for the military, and the bill is typically very detailed. Any major shifts of spending have to be approved by Congress.
