NJ wagering law keeps owners, trainers, jockeys

And anyone who could have an impact on the outcome of a sporting event cannot wager in New Jersey. The fine could be $500 to $1000 and classified as a disorderly persons offense . A letter was sent “to all owners trainers jockeys and NJTHA board, officers, executive staff and employees including any relative living in the same household are prohibited from placing sports wagers.”
The premise here is a horse race or aspect thereof is a component of any sports wager
A form was included in the mailing that must be filled out that could allow an individual(not precluded under the law on other grounds) and that individual may be able to place a sports wager which does not involve horse racing. This is covered under N.J.A.C 13:69N-1.1
