Not card blanch.
THIS program is helping people who contribute. Short term.
No one has an 0bama phone number.
This is a process.
Temporary, not a career path.
Don't worry, if it doesn't play out, I will be all over it like I am on the street version.
And generally, welfare is not a bad thing for SOME people.
Some people NEED help, need health care.
Some people just cannot fend for themselves.
When you hand out checks for votes all over, it is these people, the ones who need it, who are hurt.

Welfare for farmers, deja vu:

Crutches are temporary - you use them for a little while until things improve.
General welfare is like buying you a motorized wheel chair and a special access van with a handicap sticker for the long haul.

No.
I just fail to see what JFK, whose been dead for over 50 years now, has to do with the present topic.

The government has a fabulous track record of giving away benefits and then taking them back later down the road...

There is a new sheriff in town.
He may or may not.
As I said, if he doesn't , I will get on him for it.
At least my mind is open to new thing, not steel-trap shut like yours.

Protective tariffs are hardly a new thing. Presidents have been using them and failing for a hundred years, the most recent being George W. Bush's steel tariffs.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Not surprising, since the majority of supporters think that Trump is a financial genius and can do no wrong. There is little evidence showing that Trump, a NY real estate guy, has had any experience with tariffs. All evidence indicates he is taking the lead from his tariff "expert", Peter Navarro. This is why Trump advisors with real experience, like former Goldman Sachs president Gary Cohn, have left the administration. Cohn and others strongly opposed the tariffs.
It is understandable that Trump Tariff Fans saw no problems. The disaster is that Trump's tariff guru saw no problem.
Quote:
When Navarro appeared on Fox Business Network's Mornings with Maria on March 2 to defend the then-rumored tariffs, host Maria Bartiromo asked how countries would react to the taxes.
"Should we expect China and others to come back and say, 'Oh really America? Well take this, I'm going to raise tariffs and retaliate on farm goods, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Cummins engines, John Deere tractors ...'" Bartiromo asked. "Are you expecting China to come back with retaliation?"
"I don't believe any country is going to retaliate for the simple reason that we are the most lucrative and biggest market in the world," Navarro responded. "They know they're cheating us, and all we're doing is standing up for ourselves."

The Chinese were cheating American consumers by selling us low cost steel and solar panels. The Canadians were cheating American consumers by selling us lumber at low prices.

Farmers are already complaining that the $12 billion is a drop in the bucket, and that they just want the tariffs removed. The president of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association said that the $12 billion wouldn't even cover the damage to soybean growers.
He warns that the tariffs could cost Trump a lot of farm votes if he runs again in 2020, and that this issue needs to be resolved well before that.

There is strong evidence that Russian and Brazilian growers are going to quickly step in and steal the market from the American farmer.
Large quantity growers in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere = Year round supply and harvests.
China has already hinted at releasing stockpiles and slapping American farm exports even harder...
Now why would China just so happen to have a stockpile of soy sitting around to come in handy in such a situation?... could it be they are playing...?
Nth degree chess!

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. And the farm vote trumps the teacher vote in a lot of red states.
