I know that it will be a stark contrast between Reagan and Obama. if you read the article, the contrast was very clear in 2011 and it's just gotten worse since.

Bull. Reagan spent on the military and rattled the soviet cage to get them into an arms spending spree that would destabilize the USSR enough to fracture the economy and political ties. Those were things being discussed on tv in real time, and it worked. Your posts are revisionist history.

and it worked. did it? what did it do for me? Russia has nukes and is still a threat. They only took some time off. we still hate the Russians, they still hate us. I see no change.
Russia and the USA created Al-queda , which spawned ISIS, which spawned Syrian refugees, which spawned the Brexit , and possible destruction of the EU. Give ISIS credit for the Brexit.
ISIS and Trump agree on one thing, The EU should break up.

I would say this. The Euro model did not have to resemble the penurious, 19th century one proffered by America, for various social benefits, like Medicare & Maternity.
However, the Greeks can't be allotted 3 months summer vacay and the Germans 2 weeks! (This is not meant to be exact, but just to stress the differences.) Eventually, those countries which worked longer & harder are going to resent the unequallness of the arrangement. To make it work, they should have worked this out beforehand, OR at least have set minimum and maximum parameters, for each and every benefit. And, if you wanted more, the citizens of that country only should be paying or they should be SOL.
IMHO.

Our giving stinger missiles to Afghanistan to negate the Soviet helicopter threat turned the war for Russia. Coupled with Reagan's relationship with Gorbachev and the crippled Soviet economy ( listening up, libs?) from trying to compete with us, they could no longer afford to maintain the Berlin Wall or the Iron Curtain.
Unlike Skippy today, Reagan had real-world measurable gains in his foreign policy. Unfortunately, much kike OBama following Bush, Clinton let the gains go by the wayside while he pursued his own personal agenda, not parallel to the good of the nation.

Of course it doesn't work- well!
You have entrenched mega billion dollar insurance & Pharma industries working in their own vested interests to screw it. And of course, force it back in time, where millions have no coverage and an insurance company bean counter decides whether you should be covered and what you'll be covered for.
Half way is a FUBAR- a total FUBAR!

After further review, it appears that the Brits decided they didn't want extreme diversity over their safety......

There are few people on earth that despise insurance in general and medical insurance specifically more than I do but this is a crazy post in its attempt to skirt reality and place blame.
What good will it do these companies to be bankrupt? How does that help clients? The bill was written to FORCE people to buy insurance. The fact that it is a house of cards that is bound to collapse is because of the bill as written, not because insurance companies won't dig up coffee cans full of trillions to give away free health care. Hate the bill, laugh at it, and blame the bill on those responsible - those that sacrificed good legislation for political victory and an IOU from the two factions that you comically find at fault here.

The bill was written by insurance company lobbyists. They loved the idea of mandatory insurance and subsidies for poor people. It is in their interests to get as many people enrolled as possible.
Nancy Pelosi said we have to pass the bill to see what is in it. What she should have said is we have to pass the bill to see what the insurance companies put in it.

A huge number of Brits have moved to cheaper EU countries such as Spain. Portugal as a retirement destination. A lot of Brits work in EU countries.
If they were so concerned with safety they should have let N. Ireland go. Now the Irish are wondering why can you leave but we could not leave YOU?
Scotland is wondering why England was against them leaving the UK.
So it seems the Scots and Irish were right for all these centuries about the English. its all for them.
England opened a can of worms on this.

There are reports that the flood of millions of signatures on the petition for another vote on Brexit is a hoax, generated by bots. One site says that 30,000 of the signatures came from Vatican City IPs.
Or maybe it is just the Pope, continuing his crusade for open borders and redistribution of wealth.

you know, that wouldn't surprise me. I thought strange yesterday that they were able to achieve 2 million sigs in two days. That's nearly impossible to do.
