Four months into this (which is the equivalent of about 80% of the flu season in length), COVID-19 has killed (according to official stats) 209,661 people worldwide.

This is, of course, not insignificant and it is indeed a horrible and tragic outcome for the people who suffered this disease and their families.

However, taking emotion out of the equation, the FLU kills 600,000+ worldwide in a bad year. That's a FACT.

So this whole "killing so many so quickly" doesn't stand up to the current statistics.

It's been FOUR MONTHS. AT LEAST. WORLDWIDE.
Keep posting these stats...and our elected officials might also lock us down for the FLU.

only the ones put on ventilators (NYC has 85% deaths after putting on ventilator, some places cut this down to closer to 50%)

A hospitalized case gets $13K.

An estimated 80,000 Americans died from that 2018-2019 flu over the entire duration . We are not four months into this, only about 2.

First death was Feb.29th

We have not reached the plateau yet. Another few weeks to go. We do not know how long it will remain plateaued, Maybe another few weeks or so. The disease will persist at least as long as it took to get there. So, doubling the current death total is not an exaggeration. That brings it to over 115,000. And there will be a another wave next fall-winter.

Hopefully I am wrong.

But this is much worse.

Update Sweden

Sweden says its coronavirus approach has worked. The numbers suggest a different story
https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/28/europ...ntl/index.html

Sweden has registered 18,640 coronavirus cases and 2,194 deaths among its population of 10.3 million people.
Denmark has had 8,773 cases and 422 deaths in a population of 5.8 million, Norway 7,449 cases and 202 deaths among its 5.4 million people, and Finland 4,576 cases and 190 deaths in its population of 5.5 million.

Sweden needs a lot more time to see if their policy is right

"Herd Immunity" takes a while and cost lives

3-5 times deaths per 100k residents of other Scandinavian countries

So, what it costs lives!? Isn't the world also in an overpopulation crisis? Isn't this really the biggest threat to everyone's safety on the planet?

I think the smart thing to do is shelter in place until 2030. Why take a chance?

Most scientists say till at least 2022. So dont give me we should just do what the scientists say.

Better hurry up and buy your veggie garden seeds before the Nanny State forbids such purchases.

CDC flu counts and deaths are way overstated. Coronavirus is more contagious and way more deadly. I'm not sure why people can't comprehend how bad this thing is even if death rates were initially overestimated.

"Way more deadly"...only because the deaths are grossly exaggerated, as has been explained often in various threads. The bar has been set very low for establishing "cause of death".

It is a bit more precise speaking of the US. There are fears and concerns it has not really hit third world countries with compromised healthcare systems.

And as I said it ain't going away with another wave next fall , winter.
