So let me get this right, not only was the plane on lower than normal altitude to evade radar but likely went into a spin? Sounds like Obamacare.

say, whatever happened with the analysis of the flight simulator the pilot had in his house? The results were expected two Fridays ago, but I've heard nada. No news means they found something useful.

Not sure if that is how it played out. We only have the Malaysians' word that the plane did that. I'm not willing to bet my life on their veracity. Are you? Besides, what happened over Malaysia is entirely different from what happened seven hours away.

I never said anything about altitude just that if it was out of fuel and the pilot fought to keep it airborne it would only be a matter of time before the plane heeled over and careened into the deck or went into some sort of uncontrollable spinnin or yawing.

Obviously. Aircraft have two types of energy that they can exchange back and forth between. Kinetic (airspeed) and Potential (altitude). With power they are interchangeable... without its a one way ticket. a

We may never know, at a depth of 2.8 miles down the cost to retrieve may prove to be too steep for that small country to pay. One would think if your running low of fuel you put it down as softly as possible right? Do the folks who are on site have the same torso ripping projections as you guys? Or are they saying several possibility's that Pace Advantage panel has already disqualified?

Under what conditions do you believe a pilot would fly 7 hours into the open ocean a thousand miles from land so that he could attempt a soft landing at sea just before fuel expires? And without hope of rescue if successful and die a painful, slow death? I'd believe the black hole theory over your proposal.

If the pilot did it, then yeah, he murdered 238 people in a murder/suicide. If your thoughts go beyond that, then you live in an upside world where foul play is more common than accident. It would be more appropriate to say that until proven otherwise, the plane had either a pilot problem or a serious malfunction.

Media Release
10 April 2014—pm

The Chief Coordinator of the Joint Agency Coordination Centre, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston (Ret'd), has confirmed that whilst conducting an acoustic search this afternoon a RAAF AP-3C Orion aircraft has detected a possible signal in the vicinity of the Australian Defence Vessel Ocean Shield.

“The acoustic data will require further analysis overnight but shows potential of being from a man-made source,” Air Chief Marshal Houston (Ret'd) said.

“I will provide a further update if, and when, further information becomes available.”

if memory serves, the pilot made a right turn to head back and didn't land on land or anywhere close.

Long ago I came away with same idea. I now check this thread ever so often to see if there is anything new. Wouldn't dream of turning on CNN if there is nothing new here.

The only source I read is daily briefs from Australia. There's really nothing more than conjecture everywhere else.
